I've heard a lot of hype and praise for the Mega Man series and with the announcement that Mega Man will be in the next Smash Bros game I thought it was about time I gave the series a shot. I ended up getting Mega Man X for the Wii Virtual Console so here's a brief review of the game. Be good to hear other people's opinion of the game.

Nothing about this game is cheap or random.
As an indicator for just how utterly consistent it is, I can damn near beat the entire game without ever taking a hit.
It's not exactly something you can just DO, but a lot of your difficulties have to do with you needing to learn to use X better, and that you've obviously missed some of the functions of several of the Maverick weapons.

Honestly, the X series, and X1 in particular, is pretty easy and super forgiving.
If you want to experience how crazy-balls hard the MegaMan series can be, try MegaMan 1, or MegaMan & Bass.

Mega Man X is my favorite video game of all time, it's as close to perfect as any game I have ever played. The art is great, the level design is fantastic, the music is phenomenal and the gameplay is fast paced and fun. If you've never seen Egoraptor's video about Mega Man X you should, that pretty much covers everything I love about the game.

The game isn't cheap and it definitely isn't very difficult(the X series is the most forgiving in the entire franchise... X1 being the easiest). Every boss has a pattern, once you start to learn the patterns you can easily avoid getting hit. Every boss also has a weakness, I noticed you were using Shotgun Ice against Armored Armadillo... don't. He's weak against Electric Spark, it destroys his armor and does a ton of damage to him.

Your biggest problem is that you're going in without understanding how any of the game mechanics work. Once you start learning, the game gets much easier. The Mega Man series has always been about trial and error, through your mistakes you gain a better understanding of how to play the game.

It takes a while to get good at the game(I've been playing it for 20 years, so suffice it to say I'm pretty damn good at it) but once you do it's one of the most entertaining games around.
