i've been thinking about mega man and how awesome he is but i came to a question.

seen as metroid is still ever popular today, with it having several 3d titles in the series and being well... brilliant, why did no one ever think to make mega man in 3d?

there is obviously the fact that it might ruin the series, but it could also be really good.

any thoughts?

There are some Megaman games in 3d, but they didn't fair too well with gamers. Although Megaman 64 is one of my favorite 64 games ever.

Well, i don't know, i mean Megaman in the 3D version of metroid wouldn't seem as fun, you wouldn't be able to utilize all the special power-ups he gets

Owch, man.

C'mon, Sonic Adventures was pretty good, right? I mean, it wasn't bad. Well apart from the cutscenes and the redundant characters.

...

Well. Fuck.

Is it time for me to quit being a fan of Sega?

The reason Sonic became a failure was not because it went into 3d. It is because it turned into idiotic ideas that make no sense. 3d versions of it like Sonic Adventure Battle 1 and 2 were great Sonic games. I feel that if they made a Sonic game kind of like Shadow Complex, except you could occasionally jump into the background instead of shooting into it, it would be very cool.

There are, but no good ones really.

One of the "2.5D" ones for the PS2 seemed ok, forgot the name of it though...friend of mine has it.

I thought Sonic adventures was pretty good except for the IMPOSSIBLE last level! I never beat that game.

I think they should do Megaman again BUT not in true 3d if you know what I mean.
Something like what was done in SF4 or the illusion of 3d would suit Megaman perfectly as I don't think Megaman would be as good in 3d and I didn't try the games that did try this.

i didn't know there had been any to be honest, but fair enough. so were they good? are we talking properly 3d, or like 2.5d? it's a shame they never did well if that's the case, because some of the original games were brilliant.

That really isn't 3d, that's a 3d character render in a 2d environment. Personally, I think that if Megaman did something like Metroid, with a large area filled with powerups, locked doors, and a decent free-roaming quality, the game would be quite good. But that's just me.

You're thinking of Megaman X 8.

What, you mean the Super Sonic vs. Perfect Chaos bossfight? What's so hard about that? Dodge the random crap he flings at you to slow you down while collecting enough rings to stay supersonic-y, so you'll have enough momentum. Then jump into the guy. Rinse, repeat. What's so hard about that?

Oh, whoops I meant Sonic Heroes. It's the part where you're team is grinding down some long rail and you have to avoid some huge laser.

yeah i remember that, it was such a pain in the arse.

i just think mega man would have the potential to be truly great in 3d, if it was done well.

On one hand, I'm inclined to agree. That game wasn't nearly as good as Sonic Adventures and the games that went before (not counting just about everything from the NGC's Sonic Gems Collection, which were all crap for some reason. What's up with that?)

I just read that Sonic Heroes is apparently a NGC title, though. Being the Sonic-freak that I am, I'm inclined to pick up the title and frickin' finish the game just to tell you how to do it.
