Megan Fox Appears in Call of Duty: Ghosts Live-Action Trailer

The new, live-action Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer "Epic Night Out" features a memorable trip to Vegas and an appearance by none other than Megan Fox.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Call of Duty: Ghosts "Free Fall" gameplay trailer that struck earlier this week [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129215-Call-of-Duty-Ghosts-Unveils-Free-Fall-Gameplay-Trailer], but "Epic Night Out" is definitely up my alley. It's silly, too, but in a good way: Four guys running around in the ruins of Vegas, dodging explosions and shooting at everything that moves, while the Chairman of the Board struts his stuff in the background. And Megan Fox! That actually isn't a highlight for me, I had no idea it was her at all until I paid some attention to the description, but what's a Call of Duty ad without at least one celebrity appearance?

It's not quite up to the level of the great Black Ops ad [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/105174-Columnist-Calls-Black-Ops-Ad-Twisted] from 2010 but it's still a lot of fun and really, I think this is how it should be done: Forget all that "war is hell" stuff and focus on "videogames are cool" instead. There's a lot more credibility to be had from that vantage point.

Call of Duty: Ghosts comes out on November 5 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC, and as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

I'm noticing a trend for shooter commercials to have all the action be done by the actual gamers. Like the Xbone and PS4 commercials did a similar thing and I'm wondering if anyone else has picked up on this.
It just seems kinda weird. Maybe Yahtzee was right in that showing how good the game will look doesn't work anymore so now the game is advertised as a social event.

Wowzers. That was a pretty darn good commercial. I've never purchased COD game and I still wont, but that add seems to capture the spirit of the game rather well.

I like how the article specifies that Megan Fox being in it wasn't as highlight, after making the title about her.

But, eh, very forgettable ad.

Hmm, the opening scene and the style of the music made me think of Fallout New Vegas. Then it got dull.

Captures the dudebro side of the game perfectly, (with a bored Megan Fox phoning in the worst performance ever for the money)

The only thing I really like about CoD now are their commercials. They're always done very nicely, so if nothing else, props for that.

I think it's rather suspicious that they try to sell a game without actually showing anything from the game. Just "Look at how much fun these guys are having! Yeah! They're regular Joe's but they're acting like bad-ass navy seals! Look! There's Megan Fox! Oh yeah, buy CoD Ghosts."

Whatever, just wash your hands.
On one hand I'm kinda tempted to get the new cod since the multi is always fun, but on the other, every-single one of these promo things they release make it look too damn dudebro for my tastes.

I never really understood why you'd do a game trailer completely in live action since, y'know, you're selling a game not a film. It seems especially odd in this case since it's showing us a bunch of guys driving cars, firing guns (and missing every shot going), grappling down buildings and blowing up helicopters and then just slaps the brand name on the end as if to say, "Yep, that's exactly what this game will be like!"

So uh does anyone know the button you press in COD to flip a table over and use it as cover? or the button to press that lets you dive side ways while shooting? or to do a roll?

Also BF style destruction mechanics on COD now?

Man, Megan's really been slumming it since she got ditched from Transformers.

"There's a soldier in everyone" is pretty friggin' awful and disrespectful as a title. I think that sums up everything people criticise about CoDs message on war.

It's been a trend for a few years now at least I think, Skyrim's trailers were all 100% live action and I'm pretty sure the 360/PS3 trailers were almost all mainly live action in some form or another.

I actually think it's almost the reverse of what Yahtzee says, that games actually don't look good enough for what they promise people in their heads. Like how people remember Call of Duty:MW3 looking is probably a lot better than it would look on a big screen in the middle of a bunch of adds featuring normal people. When you remember a game you tend to forget what looks rough and the world becomes real to you, but if you've been watching a bunch of real adverts it shows you that there's still a way to go.

But if you do live action then you can show people what they think in their heads, instead of how things actually are.

That's a good advert, contemporary jazz, modern humour and explosions never hurt anyone.

I also don't understand why a blank expression is considered sexy.
Kristen Stewart is in the same boat, "sexy" and blank.

The blank face has nothing to do with being sexy. Her face is sexy to begin with and the blankness is simply a precaution, they don't want to risk ruining the appeal by having her attempt to do anything more.
