In every CoD game I've ever played, those protagonists would've been dead at least ten times each by the time the trailer was done. As much fun as they try and make CoD look, it's still far too fast for me. I like to have time to think between spawn and death.

And what's with them always having vehicles in these ads? As far as I know, CoD still doesn't have drivable vehicles, just those killstreaks where you get to sit in one for a while.

I suppose it isn't terrible(certainly not better than that black ops trailer that was mentioned, or the "surprise" trailer they did), but almost anything would seem better than those random people telling COD stories in random daily situations commercials.

Oh goody gumdrops, a neo-hipster bromance advertisement. Notice what they aren't showing? .. Well aside from the real life nerd-rages, overt sexism and race baiting that's a deep part of the COD experiance... Those numbnuts shooting any actual human enemies. I'm guessing showing those happy-go-lucky fucktards mowing down other people would have been a downer ... when it's the BIGGEST part of the fucking game. Gotta love "honesty" in advertising. It's all fun and games until someone gets their head blown off ... so we just won't show that part.

As to Megan Fox, meh. Don't mind she's in the add as she actually is a gamer, but ever since she mistook an undertaker for a plastic surgeon she's become very uncanny valleyish and just not attractive to me.

As opposed to any of her other "acting" gigs? If you can even call it that. I mean most of her roles involve "Stand there and look hot" so, how much acting that requires isn't quantifiable.

And we should care because....
The only reason anyone hires Megan Fox is because she either slept with somone upstairs or is going to sleep with someone in the commercial. When did we start glorifying porn stars with less acting ability than actual porn stars now?

ID argue it was her best performance to date. After all, she managed to actual change her face and not show boobs in the process. Thatsn ot saying much, because she is one of the worst actors in existence to begin with.

Also capcha insults me. It tells me that i cannot be animal, mienral or computer :(

Well Call of Duty's certainly taking home first round in the war against Battlefield what with that whole AXE thing they got running for them.

EDIT: Seems my statement was both rushed and uninformed. I feel like some sort of marketing executive now :(

I like how the article specifies that Megan Fox being in it wasn't as highlight, after making the title about her.

But, eh, very forgettable ad.
As opposed to her usual memorable works? *snaps fingers*

Celebs advertising games isn't a bad idea, but wouldn't it be better to get celebs involved with the game to advertise the game?

Oh look, another Call Of Duty advert using famous celebrities to draw attention instead of showing the actual game (or gameplay)...I wonder why :)

Ummm...what?
1) That commercial is running for AXE...hence it's on their channel, not any channel affiliated with Battlefield/DICE.
2) The only other reason you say that is because the AXE advert was published on the Escapist as "news" while the actual BF4 Multiplayer trailer (you know, the one with millions of views) obviously wasn't Escapist-worthy.

Call Of Duty trailers are alright from a "hyuk hyuk, famous celebrities!" point of view, but Battlefield trailers completely DESTROY them in terms of impressing with just gameplay alone.

Sorry if I'm coming off as a typical Battlefield-fanboy slamming CoD (as if that doesn't happen enough), but even speaking objectively it's just undeniable that Battlefield has fucking AWESOME trailers. As for gameplay, I'll let people decide for themselves.

Well i can only apologize for my ignorance then. I don't pay much attention to the promotions for either of these games since i don't play neither CoD nor Battlefield and had only seen the AXE atrocity thus making that my only point of reference.

I am not sure why the lack of game-play would be seen as a warning sign in this case. It isn't like COD is some small, first time project from an unknown studio. Pretty much everybody knows what to expect by now, and those who like COD are going to get it regardless of the trailers.

Plus we already saw that a dog is in the game, I doubt they can really top that.

While I've mixed opinions of Megan Fox (good actor, seems like a stand-up sort of person, but weird and often bad movie roles and choices), gotta admit that little head shake after they jump off the building was hilariously well timed.

However, to join in on the unofficial theme currently running through the thread: I agree that this almost fails in it's job as a trailer. It's not particularly creative (aside from a few funny moments), tells us nothing really new in the game that hasn't been informed by other (IN-GAME) trailers, and doesn't show any actual game play.
Now don't get me wrong: I don't think that cinematic trailers should automatically be disregarded (I think some people dismiss how much CAN be told about a game in one of those trailers), since they are useful tool to build interest in a game while the actual gameplay is being tweaked, but when you get to the stage when the gameplay is pretty much nearly finished, you don't really have an excuse anymore.

@Strazdas

And you base that comment on what? She doesn't have a reputation for sleeping around, dating a lot of men, nor has she ever made a sex tape that has "accidentally" leaked to the public. In fact, she has been in a relationship with Brian Austin Green since 2004 and gave birth to their first child last year and she is currently expecting their second child. So where exactly are you getting all this "slept with someone upstairs" and "glorified porn star" gibberish? Making things up, eh?

I never understood the appeal of Megan Fox.

I also don't understand why a blank expression is considered sexy.
It's the pinnacle of what our popular culture considers female perfection: tits+ass, unhindered by anything else noteworthy.

Personally I'm not a fan, and neither do I enjoy dudebro culture much, so this one zooms somewhat past my appreciation zone.

But hey, good on them for correctly identifying their primary audience.

That was absolutely terrible.
Oh look it's a woman in a video game commercial, wait what she can take care of herself?!
Women can't take care of themselves! THIS IS GROUNDBREAKING!

I want a game based on the commercial.

Yes, the commercial.

Imagine a single player only game about living in a world where a bunch of immortal Mr.Mxyzptlk-like fratboy super soldiers can show up in your neighborhood and decided to a play a few rounds of team deathmatch.

Kristen Stewart is in the same boat, "sexy" and blank.
She just looks braindead.

OT: I always like these weird live action commercial/trailers activision puts out, can never put my finger on why though. Maybe cuz they're just stupid.

Appealing to a female audience.

You are doing it wrong.
You don't want to advertize the fact that the primary male audience of the game is going to think of you as... Megan Fox.

But WOW did you see the gunfight in space! That's going to be so cool....
Hold on. There's not air in space... How are they firing bullets... Okay so the trailer was all stupid.
