So, [a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fredrin/megatokyo-visual-novel-game"]this[/a] has already been funded, so much so that Fred's had to add more stretch goals. In two days.

[a href="megatokyo.com"]Megatokyo[/a] is an Original English Language manga and one of the few that has actually been translated to Japanese. It's the story of Piro and Largo, two American gamers who get stranded in Tokyo for a few months and what happens to them. It's part drama, part comedy, part supernatural and overall fantastic. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend doing that as soon as you can. Just keep in mind that updates are sporadic at best.

If you do know Megatoyko, then what do you think of the somewhat rabid and quick support of this? I'm fully invested in it and hope it works out perfectly for Fred, which would be a nice change for him, considering his recent surgery and self-deprecating demeanor. What other manga or webcomics would you like to see become a visual novel? I'd like to see a Questionable Content one to be honest.

He managed to emulate a manga style and make it his own, I really admire that about him. I wouldn't even call his comics manga any more. Not many americans that are heavly infuenced by japanese illustration have managed to do that. I liked his penciled in look, and page layout of his comics, and his last books had some pretty good print values.

That being said, in the books that were printed I didn't like splash page after splash page of his characters. It also drove me nuts when he had that stick man comic/ guest artists in his books and on his website. The stories became kind of repetative, with no real character development. It just seemed to be the same thing over and over again , how sad Piro is and... oh the drama in his life.

I donated the books I had to the library book sale and have never looked at his stuff since then.

I guess it managed to keep going and keep a really loyal fan base. Unfortunatly I'm not one of the fans any more.

I respect that guy and his hard work.

I stopped reading Megatokyo after my first great computer reformat. I didn't cross save bookmarks, and it seems like every time I ever reformat, I forget every single comic that I read on that particular go. Megatokyo was one of the ones that bit it, and I remember considering coming back to it, but it didn't update for like a week, and I thought it was dead.

Would be nice for the artist to score some more work though. He does what he does well.

I've read a lot of Megatokyo in an archive binge but I got sick of it and haven't touched it since. If I was going to play (read?) a visual novel that wouldn't be it.
