What scene/level/sequence from a game was absolutely awe inspiring to you? What do you think made it that way?

For me, it is All Ghillied Up/One Shot, One kill from the first Modern Warfare game.

I've had a love/hate relationship with the Call of Duty franchise. It's had its moments, but this sequence is, by far one of the moments in gaming that is etched in my memory.

I think the sequence stays stuck in my head, primarily for the scenery, a derelict and empty Chernobyl. But I think the staying effect has to be the pacing of the sequence. It was perfectly paced, with tension, calm, calculation, and challenge.

That's a great level, one of my favorites.

OT: I like Chairman Prescott's speech in Gears 2. It was a powerful speech that rallied the demoralized humans of Serrra. It got me pumped to take on the Locust Horde!

For me it is definitely Captain Kirrahe's "Hold the Line" speech in Mass Effect. That speech was just very inspiring to me and it made me pumped to go fight Saren on Virmire. It is also one of my favorite video game speeches of all time.

We will hold the line!

I just loved that speech.

I loved the second mission in black ops, the prison riot one. I don't know why, but it really made me feel passionate and righteous for my fellow prisoners.

The Final Fight between Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4

Anyone who says otherwise will be destroyed by Ocelot's fingerbang of Doom!!!!

The train sequence in Uncharted 2. It was beautifully orchestrated and something I had never seen done before. Then, after fighting your way through two chapters and a train of bad guys, it turns out to have been for naught. Finally, you come full circle to the intro of the game and are left wondering what more the game could possibly throw at you. I love it.

Both awesome missions. I think All Ghillied Up is easily my favorite, but the prison break caught me by surprise in how much it sucked me in.

1000 Cuts from Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
Video games are no strangers to torture sequences, but Dog Days was the first game that felt like it ever really went there. And if that wasn't enough, Lynch's woman gets raped and then brutally murdered in front of Kane's very eyes... and they were videotaping the whole thing.

One truly disgusting scene that I will never forget.

The Galbadia scenes at the end of the first disc in FF8. Everything from the preparations to the moment with Irvine just makes me smile. It's because it was my first Final Fantasy and it really hit me that this is what a video game can do with a story.

I guess its the reason I fell in love with ME in the first place.
After configuring my Shepard with backgrounds, looks, and weapons/talents, I watched her walk up the ramp to the front of the bridge where Kaidan and Joker were.

She nodded to crewmembers, nearly bumped into another person, and kept walking up until she stood next to some weird...big armoured thing (Nilius). Then the camera swiveled to her front where she was looking out through the windows or whatever.

I immediately went, "Oh My God, this....is fucking awesome. She looks....I know I can kick some serious ass with her in front." It built up until that one moment and I am not ashamed to admit I had a fangirl squee when it finished.

I've honestly never felt that way for a pre-made character before or since. It was just, "Hmm, you look nice or this is as close as I can get to me with what I have." That one moment was like reaching true understanding of awesomeness or something. I loved it.

If someone could make that moment happen again in another form, I'd be ever so grateful.

My very first time playing an Assassin's Creed game. The first one, from the start. I played for about 4 hours, and I was totally hooked. I'd never seen anything like it before. It's a shame it was so crushingly repetitive. Luckily they totally fixed that for the later installments.

EDIT: Also, the first time I saw the Capitol Wasteland after leaving Vault 101 in Fallout 3.

again like I said in the other thread.

Final Fantasy games in general and Uncharted 2. I Also have to add Metal Gear Solid 4. The ending of Call of Duty 1. It was the first fps I played through properly and running along with the soldiers to raise the flag at the end felt really good.
