Ya know when you think "Man that game was awesome" and you remember all these things about it?
Well what games have you recently replayed and realised aint as you remember them?
Doesn't have to be "Not as good as I remember", just different...

I am playing HL1 at the moment, something I aint done in a long time... The guns don't seem to be all that powerful... I don't remember the assualt riffle being this in-accurate... Since when can these soldiers take a point blank shotgun blast and still be standing? When did Gordon give up walking in favour of the skateboard?
Still enjoying the play, just isn't how my brain remembered it.

I was just reminded of this game, Quack attack. I remember it as a shining, brilliant jewel in my life, and do of course want to try playing it again; but I am afraid it might turn out to be crap.

Basically most games I play have this issue. Quite probably because I have already been spoiled...

I remembered Primal being amazing, then when i went back and played it it was just good.

the camera was too buggy for it to be truly great, everything else was awesome still

I remembered Sim City 4 being my art form. Replayed: Even Better. (Seriously, who knew highways could be so useful?)

Its odd you bring this up, I just 10 minutes ago, finished playing HL1 though again. And I have to say I was consistently impressed with how much better it was than HL2 on every level except the superficial and contemptible aspect of graphics.
I played though Blueshift too which was also good, though perhaps a tad easy. One of the best things about halflife has always been the guns, they are plenty powerful enough, though it must be said that the soldiers have too much health... still, one alt fire blast from the shotgun will do them. As for the larger things, there are some guns later on in the game which will vaporise them in a second.
The two best guns though for me are the glock and the shotgun, I think these - at the time - showed the way for modelling guns in games and its no surprise that CS took off off the back of HL with great guns like those.

HL, I salute you, you are truly better than I remember!

There was one game on the PS1 that I LOVED called Motor Toon Grand Prix... but I was 6. From what I remember it was like Mario Kart but with an overly toony look to it. I'm too afraid to play it now though, because it might suck.

EDIT: Apparently it's actually Motor Toon Grand Prix 2 in Japan, and the first never got released here... I'm sick of number confusion (looking at you Final Fantasy).

Oh don't get me wrong, I AM enjoying playing it again and have every other time I've given it a run. Just doesn't feel how I remember it feeling.

I always thought the Magnum model looked great.

I don't know if I enjoy 1 or 2 more based purely on gameplay... HL1 did feel more like I was just a dude in a haz-mat suit trying to get the hell out of dodge (which of course IS what you are essentially) rather that feeling like some sorta super man which is the vibe I got from HL2 but I love them both. Man I sank so much time into HL1 back in the day... the single player the deathmatch the mods...

Jet Moto 2 for PS1. I remember playing it a long time ago and having some epic races with friends, shooting through the clouds into heaven and then plunging into hell (on one track), accompanying with fire and change of music or blasting on a jet bike across breaking ice flows. So when I saw it for sale on PS3, naturally I jumped at it but it just wasn't quite as epic as I remembered. I think updated graphics would fix that, the music still was good at least.

OT: I always remember the graphics on baldurs gate to be better. Though to be fair they are fixed at 800x600 and that would of looked a lot beter on the 15" monitor I had back then than the 24" monitor I have now.

As a testiment to how good Half Life was, it's the only game I've played in aaaaaaaages that can have some of the most fucking annoying parts in it, yet still keeps me plugging away at it rather than rage-quitting and proclaiming it to be a royal load of shit.

As in "I can see what I gotta do but I've ended up with as much health as a deathly Gnat and as a result, keep getting killing inches away from the goal... reload-rerun-repeat"

I used to enjoy the GBA version of Crash Nitro Kart. One of the things I used to do was do time trials with every single character to see who was fastest.
Apart from proving the belief I'd been able to fathom after playing the single-player that the ONLY characters you can afford to use are the high-Speed ones (at least if you want to win) it also proved that I was a gullible naive child with little better to do.

I almost want to play it again but...I suspect it would be crap.
