I think men wearing ear-rings just look stupid. What are you trying to prove, that you have a softer more sensitive side? One of my professors wears an ear-ring and it drove me insane the entire semester, I just wanted to scream out "Holy f'ing ass-crackers! Do you have any idea how hard it is to take you seriously when you're wearing an ear-ring!?"

My first inclination when I see a guy with ear-rings is to think "Man, he looks gay" but that doesn't sit well with me as a good description cause even gay guys look stupid when they wear ear-rings.The only way a guy can wear ear-rings and not look stupid is if he's already sporting so much face jewelry he has to be at least 50ft from any large magnets for his own safety. Except if his ear-ring has a gem in it, then no amount of face jewelry in the world can help him.

Personally I don't like earrings very much on anyone, from an aesthetic point of view. They have just never appealed to me

OH come on guys, I've not read all of this thread but it seems to me that it was just created to hate on people that want to change their body.
I agree that when you have a hole that you can put your fist through it is a little too much but I don't see where all the hate is coming from.
People on here are extremely judgemental of anything that they don't personally like. Tattoos, Religion, Smoking, Drinking, Marijuana, Piercings I am not sure if it's to be cool or they are really that elitist but it is starting to irritate me a lot.

I'm the proud owner of many piercings. Both of my lobes are pierced and i'm in the process of stretching them (more on that later) I had a tongue piercing but I removed it today as I grew tired of it. I have a Labret piercing which has been stretched to a 2.4mm diameter and a set of vertical snakebites (like a regular labret but they go down through the lip.) I also have both my nipples pierced and a surface piercing known as a madison (it's placed in my jugular notch).

Now, in the proffesional world of modification calling stretched lobes "gauges" is frowned upon, a gauge is a wire measurment not a form or body modification, they're simply known as "stretches" because it's very much stretching, like putting a rubber band around an object.

Also, good quality body-jewelry shouldn't be magnetic. Titanium isn't as a rule and if you have implant-grade stainless steel such as 316-L or 316-LVM.

I find it amusing how all the guys wanting to appear hard have sparkly earings. That's about as hard to me as a sparkly vampire.
Really, the only earring I've given consideration to is a nice diamond stud in the lobe.

Why? To look pretty.

I've decided against the thing, though. I figure a modest tattoo would be enough modification.

OT: It looks good on some guys but I've seen more who couldn't sport it than those who could. Those ear stretchers can get interestingly large >.<.

I also want to point out the HUGE difference between mutilation and modification. A modification would be something like stretching your earlobes correctly, a well done piercing or tatttoo. Mutilation would be doing any of those things incorrectly and to an extent where it damages you. If you stretch an earlobe so far that it snaps that's mutilation but if you stretch it so far it snaps because you want it to snap it's modification.

I don't wear any, but I wouldn't mind if I thought it would look good on me.
Hating on people who wear earrings is the same as hating on people who wear unnecessary clothing(I.e everyone) so there's really not much point to it unless our a troll.

I like the way plugs look, I'm not sure I like the way they make your ear look when you take them out but as is, they look nice. I also quite like scaffolds and upper ear piercings on guys but I think guys who wear studs or rings in the lower ear, either one ear or both, look kinda silly and thuggish.

My ex had a huge plug in his left ear and work asked him to take it out. His ear just kinda hung limply and weirdly and looked so upsetting his boss told him to put it back in but to get a 'respectable and friendly one' so he got a yellow one with a smiley face.

I don't like earings on men, or women. It just draws attention to one of the ugliest part of the human body, the ear. The whole hole thing is nutty insano.

I'm the proud owner of 1" ear piercings, and hell - I've got 2mm piercings in my nose. I like the way they look on me, and I've never had problem finding professional work. I think if people are really that squeamish, they probably don't belong in the outside world where people look different than them and gross things happen all the time.
I'm not a dude, but I don't think it makes a difference - People should be happy with their appearance, even if it's not to every ones else's liking. I don't mean you should show up to work in your PJs, but I think that things like larger ear piercings don't have to look unprofessional.

...earrings LIKE THESE [http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b55/izwah/blog/DSC01496.jpg] slightly make me want to retch. I'm all for personality and happiness, but when you want to show others a large hole through your earlobe, that's where I draw the line.
I feel the same; they are a bit repulsive in my opinion. But I don't have anything against regular earrings on men, as long as they match the rest of the guy's look. In fact, I've been thinking about getting my ears pierced myself.

In my opinion I think men with earrings look good especially guys under 40 years old. The fake ear plugs look really nice in one ear and very fashionable. The older man looks good in small stud or hoop earrings. The choice is yours really whatever you feel comfortable in and you shouldnt care about what other people think its your body after all.

Earrings with the big holes in them are sort of scary. It makes my ears hurt just thinking about them.

I have my ear pierced 4 times and getting it ready for a bar. I also plan on getting at least two more in that ear then starting the other. ^^" I personally like the way they look. I do agree that gauges are gross though and I'm not to big a fan of body piercings.
