I have aspergers syndrome, I'm also hugely paranoid and distrustful, including a massive amount of caution taken to avoid the number...erm..."one and three", I am admittedly misanthropic, but every time I try not to be, something always seems to "prove" that I was right alll along, I have not too frequent, but frequent enough to bother me nightmares related to my experiences of severe bullying, I have no self esteem, I often punish myself for mistakes by biting my hand, and tend to panic over things too easily.

I'm a wreck. I don't need a psychiatrist to put it on some database that I'm a wreck. I'd rather the next employer I apply to not find out I am not perfect enough to meet their standards before they even know me. Oh wait...they do that already. Every. Damn. Time. Sorry, I got mixed up there, but an employer being one NI check from finding I have aspergers doesn't help my chances, so having a big label that says "NUTTER" there would excacerbate things.

Hello mates! Do you have somekind of mental instability? and if you do how do you handle it? Or do you have somekind of "contact" with somebody that suffer from a mental instability?

I know this questions are a bit odd but I'm mostly asking cos' two days ago I got diagnosed with that I'm a sociopath, I suffer from post traumatic stress and I got some "version light" of schizofrenia. I really don't bother any of the 3 things, I really couldn't care less really but it got me thinking how others handle and live with their mental instabilities.

I also hope you don't feel offended by the questions, have a good day.
"Sociopath" isn't in the DSM-IV and I don't think it's in the Euro equivalent either. I'm curious as to what they actually told you. What event do you supposedly have PTSD from?

Are you a sociopath? Are you not acquainted with Jiminy Cricket? Is that why your avatar is nazi love?

I was diagnosed for depression, Attention Deficit Disorder and Asperger's. The key word being "diagnosed", as the QUALITY health professional reached these conclusions after a whopping fifteen minutes of talking to me (after which he charged my parents several hundred dollars for the privilege), and the criteria for Asperger's is so laughably vague I could seriously diagnose my cat with it. Then he spent the next year or so handing me a varying array of pills that did precisely jack shit until I finally decided to stop swallowing his physical and metaphorical bullshit. The depression thing is probably real though, considering I?ve been suicidal for a large portion of my life and the only reason I haven't actually done anything is because I?m too fucking lazy even for that. Probably a sociopath too, but as my interpersonal interaction is close to null that doesn't mean much.

I'm not going to self diagnose myself. And $15 saying anyone the calls themselves insane, isn't insane/mad. Because it's a lot worse than TV and movies make it out to be.

Also being really sad or upset about something =/= depression. Please PLEASE don't get this mixed up.

Saying you're depressed or insane doesn't make you cool. Really, it doesn't unless you're talking to 13 year old girls.
Pretty much this. My father volunteers at a nursing home and some of the patients there have Alzheimer's or dementia, and it is as far from appealing as physically possible. At the very least, having some actual sense of perspective allows me to realise I'm nowhere near insane, just a garden variety idiot.

I bet you even have a healthy social life, 'My Lord'.
Men who are already dead, have no need for a social life.

OT: Well, I have Asperger's Syndrome, if you can call it a mental defect.

Why don't you read about skinheads and you'll know? Real skinheads are not Nazis, they who are are idiots, same for the other political skinheads like SHARP and RASH. case closed.

And now back to subject: They told me that the way I act towards others and how I look at my relations to other humans are correct to the mind of a sociopath, I personally have hard trusting others no matter what role they got in my life and I see everybody as traitors and I don't have any symphaty with other humans no matter who they are also I look at other humans as consumable, no matter in what way. And that's just the begining, theres a lot more to it, but I'm not discussing that...

And who the fuck is Jiminy Cricket?

One time some doctor tried to diagnose me with schizoid personality disorder. Then I started acting up so he shifted me to another dude who tried to diagnose me with manic-depression. Then I got shifted to another dude who was baffled at these reports of an unresponsive, curmudgeonly asshole when in front of him was the sweetest, most open lad he'd ever met.

Acting is so fucking easy.

Separation anxiety. It hampers my life quite a bit, and more so of my significant other, but I have had counselling, and I am currently working through it. It is not so easy to live with at times, but this summer I have extensive... well, 'training', or 'practice', I suppose you could call it, to go through, so I am aiming to get much better at being on my own a little.

I truly found all of that insightful until I got to the end. That is priceless.

Jiminy Cricket is the character from Pinocchio who serves as the conscience. I dated a woman who was a sociopath, and Jiminy came up quite a bit in reference to her, or rather his lack of presence in her life. I doubt, based on what you've said, that you're truly an antisocial personality. You may have problems trusting other people, you may even try to screw them over in anticipation of being screwed by them, but this alone is not enough for me to consider you a sociopath. I could be wrong, of course, but the sociopaths I've met would never ever discuss their condition, or even acknowledge it, and they felt an extreme sense of superiority over all of us conscience-bearers. They would be incredibly offended by the mere idea that the psyche community or anyone else would have a name for them.

Some crazy thoughts, sometimes of suicide (often, whatever), can't speak for shit around people, feeling all alone in a threataning world, wild mood swings, the usual shit.

Seriously, were people always like this and we are just starting to find out thanks to all the communication, or is all this crazy a new development?

Asperger's, OCD and Tourette's.

Hey, at least I have actual psychological reasons for being quirky.

Well, I get these sporadic spells of intense vertigo, and because it started happening to me so young I have a powerful phobia of vertigo, dizziness, etc. Does that count?

I'm pretty sure I have mild OCD and my brain never really works the way I want it too. As long as I'm sane enough to say I'm crazy I'll be fine.

I suffer from chronic morning insomnia, if I am lucky I will get 6 hours of sleep a night with 2 sleeping tablets. I was on phenergan but I was moved onto rohypnol once I turned 16 if I take no sleeping pills I sleep for 30 minutes to an hour every day tops and experience sleep walking, sleep talking and hallucination. Not to mention feeling sick both mentally and physically

This condition has been present since birth and most doctors who have check me out have said it's genetic chemical imbalance although some thought I had autism and it was a symptom of it.

That's my medical condition, not horrific or seriously damaging in my life but it's still not pleasant. Any other Insomniacs here?

I rarely say anything about myself to anybody I know cos' they are all a threat (in my mind) and they who know anything about me know really little, by being really charismatic and manipulative I aquired nearly every secret from everybody I know and I keep the secrets as "bullets" against every individual I know. So I know how to hurt and crush them mentally while they got nothing against me.

I only trust stranges cos' they can't use the information about me in the same way as others, I'm a good personallity reader and if I don't feel threated by somebody you can acculy make me say anything about myself really. I'm a understanding person so I have no problem accepting and seeing my sociopathic mind or my other side(s) cos' of my schizofrenia and that's possibly what makes me "different" from other sociopaths... I dunno.

I'm FuBar and everybody else are traitors.
I told you all this that you'll know how some sociopaths think, work and act and you can rarely trust us. You can trust me, untill you betray me... and than it happens I will empty my clip of secrets in you until you're down for good... so in the end you can't trust me either really.

I got a good theory by the way, many sociopaths don't know they are sociopaths cos' they've supressed the traumatic experience(s) that made them "twisted"?

Why did I tell you all this... whatever.

Also, a good advice... don't date sociopaths, sooner or later you won't be worth anything in our eyes.

Well, no shit. I wasn't aware at the time. So, in your opinion, do you have anything like a conscience?

Counter-counter-culture huh? Hehe, I've gotta use that.

As for me, I get really big mood swings quite frequently, but I don't know if that really counts.

No I don't, I really hit a invisible wall than I need to have symphaty for others and I never feel bad after hurting others. For the rest I'm mostly really cold emotionaly... rage and hate is probably the only feelings I really can't control.

People on first page that supposedly have Asperger Syndrome = 6.

Is that a new fad or something?
