Gather 'round children, and hear my tale of woe. On impulse, I bought Mercenaries 2 (was on sale for $20). After a nice long installation, I booted up the game and started a new game, only to discover that the mercenary was glowing green and red, and that the ground kept on disappearing. I fiddled with some settings and got it working reasonably well, downloaded the latest patch etc. and began again.
First mission was short but an effective tutorial, I start anticipating the ability to blow up everything I could ever want to.
Second mission (Moving In, stealing Solano's villa), I'm blowing my way through a gate and killing a bunch of mooks, generally having a pretty good time, but then after killing 2 out of the 5 entourage members, I discover that no more mooks are spawning, and the waypoints for the other entourage members just lead to empty spaces. Somewhat annoyed, I tried reloading from an earlier save, same problem. I reloaded the game, same problem. I reinstalled the game, same problem. I tried playing with a different character, same problem.
As I'm currently on my mid-semester break and bored out of my mind, I have nothing better to do than try to get this game working. So tell me dear Escapist members, have any of you encountered similar problems with this game, and if so how did you fix them? Could you fix them at all?
