METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER Official Website

It sounds like they are giving this proper care and attention, with a Legacy gameplay style included. I also like the persistent wound details, but it's TBD how that factors in beyond visually. Too bad the newer controllers don't have pressure-sensitive buttons. That felt really neat in the original games.

Hopefully the next announcement yields a release date.

My RG35XX-H comes with MSX Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. installed. I should give them a whirl. I mainly mean MG2.

Of all the remakes, this (and the manner in which they are remaking it) seems like one of the more pointless and cynical.

Nope, that's just you. Your compliance doesn't matter much, other than it being your own will. People are going to play it, love it, and enjoy it. You can't stop them. You have your original and its other versions. You've lost nothing.

I tried playing 3 once, but I couldn't get into it compared to the first two. Losing the Soliton Radar was a lot of it, because I kinda suck at stealth games, but it also felt a lot more cryptic than the previous games; I got stuck for like an hour trying to find EVA at the beginning, and I don't even know how.

Anyway, point is, no special memories to rebuild or desecrate, but since stealth games usually aren't my thing I don't have enough interest otherwise to go for it. Maybe when it goes on sale, if it gets good reviews.

His take sucked the first time you showed me and still sucks. IIRC stopped watching after he said, "...controls less shitty." He wants everything in the same modern standard.

Hope there will be a demo so that I can point out all the ways in which it's mechanically off even with the classic controls/cam.

Realism, character designs, eh. Kinda soulless.

That wasn't for you this time. I did it because I like Max. Though are plenty of takes of his I disagree with. Not just this one in particular.

Kojima has always been guilty of realism, "grounded" realism, and realistic character design since the beginning of the 3D era. Despite unique stylistic designs per game. Also, realistic character go even further back with character portraits in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Snake looks like a cross between Rambo and Mel Gibson, though the latter is who he resembled most at the time. Even though Snake himself is an expy of Snake Plisken. So in reality, he should've looked more like Kurt Russel in the MSX games. You have little room talk and being full of shit as usual.

You say that as though the original developers didn't make Metal Gear Solid 3 look as realistic as they possibly could on the hardware they had.
Apparently, they didn't even bother to look at the old notes or interviews and find that the original The Boss was based on the beautiful Charlotte Rampling. Or they can't do that anymore because they rely so much more on scanning actors now. Lame.

There's one particular scene where her eyes are more impactful in the original because they're not obscured by realistic light and shadow.

If the original creators had the power of modern systems, they would have made the levels more expansive and added geometry. It's in this strange middle. Realistic textures over simplistic shapes and barren areas. Especially overpowering with modern third-person shooting, in a game that was already easy back then, and there's only so much intricacy you can add to the enemy AI (In the modern mode. Classic controls will have different AI.) before it crowds the small maps.
