Fair enough. But, in that case, do you not have sympathy ( or empathy i get them confused) for those who have had that happen to games they liked, and would hate for it to bleed into more games? Like i said, pay to win is already a thing. Just like cosmetic micro transactions have crept into AAA gaming, after being popular with free to play games, there is sufficient reason to worry that the same would happen with pay to win.

We already see it forshadowing in some ganes where you pay to unlock things faster than those who don't to get the upper hand, is it so far of a stretch to say pay to win wouldn't also?

Can you seriously tell me you aren't worried in the slightest?

*disclaimer: i'm not attacking you or anything, just curious as to how you see the big picture. A discussion of sorts.
Whether I have sympathy/empathy depends on which concept of micros we're talking about.

If we're talking about micros that DO affect your game-play if you don't like them, I do emphasize because I'm right there with you. I will not buy a game that does that and yes, I have lost out on playing games because of that. I loved playing Tiger Woods golf but I dropped the game incredibly quickly after the DLC setup [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.874364-Games-you-refuse-to-buy-because-dlc#21965026] of the game irked the crap out of me (I know that's DLC rather than Micros but there hasn't been a game I play that has had Micros be an integral part of the game). I stopped playing a game that I greatly enjoyed because they used DLC a way that I disagreed with and if Metal Gear Solid V ends up having Micros that affect my game if I don't get them, I will lose out on the last game of a series that I've been playing since the Playstation 1...

If we're talking about micros that do NOT affect your game-play, I can sympathize that people don't like it but I don't agree with them. Until the Micros (or DLC or "insert modern gaming thing here") affect what I can do with my game, I don't mind that they exist for who am I to tell people who want the option (key word option) that they can't have it?

To me, until a game actually crosses that line, I have no problem with it. Sure, in the next game they COULD decide to push the envelope and try to force the issue but I'm not going to punish a game company because they MIGHT do something in the future. Everyone has their own line; it's up to you to decide where you put your line. Others can choose to draw their own line at "No Micros Period" but they can't expect me to fall on their sword because they think it's bad.
