Anyone like The Faceless?

I've only just started giving them a good listen and I can say that they are pretty good. Their older album is much better than their new one, which just feels empty.

Good guitar, good vocals and some catchy riffs.
See, I like the new one better. Probably the techiest tech death there is.

I'm not really a fan of tech death. It always seems like they sacrifice the song for the sake of technicality. Instead of coming up with decent melodies, riffs and lyrics, they just play quickly.

My favorite metals are alternative metal and nu metal. both are very similar. My favorite bands would be Disturbed, Slipknot, and system of a down.

But see, The Faceless have decent melodies, riffs and lyrics, and they play quickly. I know what you mean, but The Faceless is an exception.

The first Faceless album is much more melodic IMO, I agree with Bucket with the genre itself though.

In anyones opinion, what was the best metal album of '08?
Best metal album would imo definitely be Godspeed on the devil's thunder
by Cradle of Filth. They really go back to Midian but keep the atmospherics.
I like
Opeth
Darkspace
Cradle of Filth
Maiden (obviously)
One song by Suicide Silence (hands of a killer)
Dimmu Borgir
Dream Theater
Machine Head are pretty cool
Tyr are pretty cool

No specific order, just off the top of my mind.

Ooh! Mayhem ofc. Deathcrush is awesome!

I recently got into Woe of Tyrants. They don't seem to get the credit that they deserve.

I do love metal, but I highly prefer the bands that have lots of detailed guitar work.
All That Remains(check out "Empty Inside"), Disturbed("Stricken"), In Flames("Only For the Weak"), and Avenged Sevenfold("Afterlife") are probably my top 4.

The band Daughters is supposed to have a new album coming out, as well as re-releasing their self-titled ep.

You might want to check out Michael Angelo Bartio [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qG74eVb6V10&feature=related], Joe Satriani [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjNAeELQ_Z8], Trivium [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edcrC6PABk8&feature=channel_page] and Judas Priest [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uie63E4gqno] but then again if you like metal you should know Judas Priest anyway.

Have a listen to The Absence, Anterior, Lamb of God, Under Threat (stick to the album Deathmoshpere) and if you want something really heavy, try Origin.

I like Fear Factory and Machine Head.
They're heavy but have a lighter side to them.
And I kinda like that because I used to listen to nothing but Death and Black Metal, which got boring eventually.

It's time for a melo-death update! Hurray!

The Absence are writing a new album, it sounds as though they're really focused on making it better than Riders of the Plague, which will be hard. They'll be posting videos of pre-production and recording as things go on. Link!

Mors Principium Est have got another new guitarist. They'll be writing some more stuff soon, hopefully it'll be a step up from Liberation Termination Link!

They might not be strictly melo-death, but Anterior are also writing new material. They've got a new drummer and are entering Grindstone studios soon with Scott Atkins to record new stuff. They aim to have the new album out summer this year. Link!

And for those of you who've heard of them, Archons have also announced they're writing a second album. Apparently they'll have a preview or video or something or other up soon to have a listen to some of their new stuff. Link!
