I just heard metallica's new single, "The Day that Never Comes". They're still sucking, but not as much as St. Anger. What happened? They used to kick the ass, now it's pathetic. Discuss.

They stopped being badass and started complaining like undecided emos.

It gets better with repeat listening but it's definitely not what I wanted from them. I was hoping for a triumphant return to their thrash roots, shaking up the musical world and showing that they still have what it takes to compete and be innovative.
I've pre-ordered the album so I'll reserve my judgment for when I've heard it a few times. I don't want too many external influences. If they album sucks I'll continue to listen to the first four and occasionally Black album.
