That's terrible. That also reminds me of Crysis, where you had to download the save for the next level to progress on it. I find it hard to believe that no one found this glitch, but I find it harder to believe that no one tested.

So let's blame Team Ninja shall we? They're probably committing seppuuku as we speak...

The problem with a Wii game having these faults is that there is no real online structure in place that that of the 360, the PS3 and the PC. In terms of on-line functionality the Wii belongs to a different era and such bugs are much more of an issue.
Which is why Nintendo games are usually bug-free. And when a bug or two does slip past, its magnified 10x
It seems odd that something gamebreaking would slip through though. I mean some 360/PS3 games have had their qirks over the past few years (Bioshock's weird corpse jiggling etc) but it's quite rare to find things gamebreaking. This is a core Nintendo IP and such it should be subject to even stricter controls becuase the Wii's online support is so lacking. Not to mention they are basically working with a game-cube (i mean i can emulate Wii games with Dolphin with very little trouble).

I just wish Nintendo would get behind it's on-line service more. When your main means of connection is LESS convenient than using IP adresses then something has gome horribly horribly wrong.
It has been noted that games can be patched through their online service though. But yes, let's see how many more people get this glitch, god forbid.

Nice to know once im FINALLY able to get the game.
ill haft to keep an eye out for it.

And aside from a few Glitches in games like Tatsunoko VS Capcom or Naruto:Clash of Ninja Rev 3, there has been only one game iv played on a Nintendo system that game me a a Game breaking Glitch.

SNK VS Capcom:Card Fighters DS had a strange Glitch that after you beat the game and started climbing the tower, at a certain floor if you tried to battle someone the game would just freeze.
Music would be playing and all but noting could be done.
Even if you closed the DS it wouldn't go into sleep mode.
There are thousands in Rev 3. I don't even know how they get through testing, and the guys over at WILLvolution (the forum for the Naruto games which have beta testers for the game on there) don't know either. To be fair to them these are the kind of bugs that aren't easy to spot until you know how to do them. But still...

Still one of the best fighting games on the Wii, if not the best.

And thats when you need to point fingers are the QA team who must have been off having pizza at one point
"Nintendo Exec: James, why are there pizza and beer stains on the QA report? And why does it only say "kinda cool"?

Jim: What?

Nintendo Exec: And are you hungover?

Jim: What?

Nintendo Exec: Not only are you fired, but the hounds have been released and will be here momentarily."

Second title on the Wii that has game breaking bugs?

Hah, I can think of many Wii games that have crashes/hangs or progression breakers. :/
Microsoft must be part of the games development team

This just reminds me of the good ol' days when you had to blow into the NES cartridge to make it work.

Lol. I clearly am one of the minority that has a faulty Wii, because I find it hard to imagine I would get the same fault in ALL games, and even the BBC Iplayer.

My Wii will hang sometimes for no reason, forcing a hard reset. Annoying, but at least it's not the RROD. XD.

Of course, I managed to get Goldeneye on the N64 to hang as well once... (and I have a Ocarina Of Time cartridge that's clearly damaged. But then, it was second hand)

I must be pretty unlucky in that regard, though I can't recall any actual bugs I've come across on console games.

You mean cleaning them out with a Q-tip.
Q-tip efficiency aside, not much of a difference in my mind.

See, this is why permission was denied to use the grappling hook. But noooo, you all had to persist until they decided to let you use it. Now look what you did. :p

Lol, i actually haven't found very many.
The most common one is where, whenever i stage switch the character im attacking as we are moving to the next part of the stage will stand strait up and not flinch, even though the sound of a hit will be heard.
And as soon as we land their health will be at max.

And ill agree that its one of the best fighters on the Wii, but best goes to TvC IMO.

At the very least, one may take comfort in that the point at which that bug occurs does not take particularly long to reach should a restart be necessary.
that's awesome to hear. I was worried. I'm currently finishing Prime 3 corruption and am really looking forward to unsealing my copy of other M.

To be fair, the article specifically says "key Nintendo franchise", not just Wii games in general.

I still wonder how shit like this flies past the Q&A department.

Did no-one catch the bug in testing? Not one person encountered a game-breaking bug that makes the game impossible to finish?

TEST. YOUR. GAMES.

Bugs of this nature should never get through the retail product. Ever.
I like how people just kind of assume that they know the QA process. This is an uncommon bug, so its entirely possible for the QA team to have gotten through that area multiple times without any hang-up. And since we don't know the cause of the glitch, we can't really even guess on whether it's something they should have picked-up via testing (for example, the Twilight Princess glitch probably should have been caught since they should have had a guy running through the game "save-testing" each area to make sure there's no problems).

Not to say this isn't a bad on Nintendo's part, just that we should wait until we at least know what's going on with the glitch before we start raging at people who may or may not even be at fault.

Bah, I don't see it as a big deal, I haven't played the game yet (and I still want to), but given how every Metroid game is structured, reloading a previous save wouldn't be as annoying as starting anew.

Also, when I played Shadow Complex when I still had the 360, I ran into a similar game breaking bug, before getting the Foam Gun. The door wich leads to said item was completely glitched out and I had to start a new game in Hardcore again... luckily that game saves the xp you get even if you start anew at the middle of the game, so, it was a lot easier, but still pretty annoying.

The fact that this is news speaks volumes about Nintendo's quality control procedures. I can't list the number of PC games (and increasingly XBox too) that were rushed out the door and sold to the public with catastrophic errors in them, with the pathetic excuse of "well, we'll just fix it in a patch".

Listen up you bastards, the general public is buying your game for good money in order to PLAY it, not to beta-test it for your lazy asses!

I'm willing to give Nintendo a bit of a break here as their record on bugs has been so exceptional thus far.
