It was a lot more than that. I didn't see anyone praising it's story, but the special atmosphere, music & sounds, graphics, effects, execution of revealing, boss fights, very functional new scan system and massive database definitely stuck out to many.

None of that I can see in Federation Force.

I've been very disappointed in the gamers who responded to this game. "Disinterest" would have been acceptable, but "anger," simply because a company isn't catering to pre-established wants, helps nothing. It doesn't promote new creation; it quashes it. It's the selfish whining of spoiled consumers. Now I know there are at least 22,000.
What the fuck are you talking about?

Squashing new creation!? Look at it and tell me what there is to squash. Does this really look like a masterpiece to you?

And spoiled isn't the right word either because it's been awhile since we've had a good Metroid game. It's just flat out disappointment.

You can count yourself as one of the people who obviously know better than everyone else. By the way, nice whine.
Thank you. It was a nice whine. It was insightful and intelligent, if I do say so myself.

Allow me to rephrase it for you, though, since I think you didn't catch the point (though I think others did/will). Imagine someone saying "that's not the game I wanted to play, so no one should be allowed to." If you don't like the look of the game, it's ok to voice that opinion, but to call for its cancelation is mean to people who were developing it, or would have given it a chance. It removes a game from the industry, which no one was forcing you to play anyway.

And I didn't say "squash," I said "quash."

Never heard 'quash' before, I just thought you accidentally missed the 's'. Always good to learn something new.

Anyway, I didn't notice anyone calling for it's cancellation. The most common reply I noticed when reading through the comments here and some other forums was that it should either involve Samus or it should be renamed something else, to avoid the disappointment which they shamefully expected. Really, they brought it on themselves.

Got me there. I just said story because to me, half of those things I all considered part of the story. That's what made Prime so beautiful, everything was part of a greater whole.

I reckon that's a unique way to summarise it. Or maybe I'm just dumb and have become too used to explaining everything in the plainest way.

Sorry, I'll get out of your way

The Prime series is like Dark Souls, you get some initial information that starts the player off on their quest, but the bulk of the narrative comes from lore found throughout the game-world. In Prime's case this meant a lot of scanning stuff.

Can we agree that we are mad at this game not cause its trying something new, or because of the lack of samus. But more because of the lack of Metroid, and i don't mean the enemy, i mean the thinks that make the series a whole, story, chracters, people being silent yet still a narrative unfolding in front of your eyes. They could have solved all of these problems by having any known hunter from the metroid universe be part of the game.

This game looks pretty horrid, I'm rather surprised "the mob" hasn't given them more crap than they have.

the Metroid Prime universe atmosphere is there
I have a lot of trouble buying this. I think the petition to cancel it is stupid, but Metroid Prime still stands as one of my favorite games, I'm both disappointed with the stuff that they've had Retro Studios doing since and the installments in the Metroid series from Metroid Prime 3 on. I think some change could be good for the series, but it seems like they've been leaving behind just about all of what I liked about the original in this.
