Just to be sure that everyone is on the same page here, this thread is about the fan made Metal Gear Solid movie being released later this year.

Now that Hive Division has finally given us a release date for the movie (27/9/09), I was wondering if anyone else on the escapist was anticipating this. What are everyone's expectations for it, are you looking forward to it, and most importantly, have you heard of it?

For those that don't yet know about it, you can watch a couple of trailers and see all the news, etc here: http://www.mgs-philanthropy.net/eng/

I for one am cautiously optimistic. These guys seem to have the right idea, but you never know how they might have screwed up somewhere along the line.

Looks okay I guess. For one moment I thought you were talking about the official movie in the makings.

Hmm, that one I'm less optimistic about. I think it will go the way of the Uwe Boll flicks.

I for one can't wait. Never really been a MGS fan, but saw a trailer a while back and thought:

FUCK.

Of course not, nobody could make something as horrible as an Uwe Boll movie, even if they tried. I'm still sceptical about the official movie as well, but still secretly believe it may turn out decent. I mean, the MGS comic was very good in my opinion, (but the novelisation sucked hard).

Holy shit, it comes out on my birthday. I hope it wont suck. At least Uwe Boll or Kurt Wimmer isn't directing it.

If the fan made Call of Cthulu movie has proved anything to me, with a little love and a lot of talent you can EASILY make up for a shoe string budget.
