There IS a god! I believe now!
(Baha I'm just kidding there's no god :D)

Now we just need to get Jack Thompson!
Do you really need to bring up religion? Some people do belive in god or a form of religin here you know. I really could care less but there is no need to make a pot shot like that at people's faiths. If you really feel the need todo so, then take it to the religion/politics thread. Thank you have a nice day.

Cheers all around and let the victory bells ring...but uh....there's this...

Atkinson will stay in parliament until the next election in 2014
He stepped down but he's still there till 2014 and if I'm not mistaken the big vote for an R18+ rating is sooner than that. So the evil old bastard can still block it.

So its not so much that he's stepping down, more that he's withdrawn from the election now that his evil works are almost complete.

Yahtzee its time for you to start that political career you've been dreaming about ever since you first complained about Atkinson.

He also cited a desire to see his son Johnno play soccer as another reason for his retirement from front-line politics.
OK Australian Escapist's, here's your homework, find his boy and get him interested in videogames, teach him everything you know.

The thought of having his son become one of Australia's top/pro gamers sounds delicious does it not?

*Flashback: Emperor Palpatine is thrown into the reactor.*
Yaaay. Not that it changes much for me, but it's a relief to hear that hope is not yet dead.

Australian Attorney-General and enemy of gamers everywhere Michael Atkinson
He holds no sway outside of Australia. He isn't an enemy of gamers everywhere, just Australian gamers. People probably wouldn't even care if Yahtzee hadn't been constantly complaining aboot him.
Just because you don't care, don't assume that no one does. There is such a thing as solidarity you know?
I agree, I don't like him, but he isn't directly my enemy. He's no Jack Thompson.
By that logic, I shouldn't consider Jack Thompson an enemy because I'm British.

If you've read Dark Empire you'd know that that was just a temporary setback for the Emperor ;)

Good to hear Aussies, but your not through the goal post end.. just one more Banzai bill to jump over before that R18+ rating, and that's who's going to replace Attickyson?
(You know you liked that SMW reference :p)

If he's stepping down, he must have down something wrong. And I believe the Australian Gamers deserve an apology for it.

I guess we'll see if he was full of crap when he said he wasn't the only one keeping a mature rating for games from coming about. He always claimed he was one of several opponents of that idea.

Just as planned *Death note music*

So yeah, win for Australia.
It's exactly as planned! [http://www.motifake.com/image/demotivational-poster/0904/good-demotivational-poster-1239653298.jpg] Gosh, get it right!

I'd embed the video but for the life of me I don't know how [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmtiTVnefAw].

Anyway, back on topic, this is very good news for Aussies. Here's to a bright future for gamers there!

Didn't read it, I am so sorry. :(
Probably for the better, so my fucking catharsis isn't all screwed up.

It's glad that the death of the Tyrant has coincided with the birth of the Family Man.

I, like many others, wasn't a fan of his policies (not that they affected me directly) but I never had anything in particular against the man. Glad to see he's going on to do what makes him happy.
