I liked him a lot in Arrested Development, but after that, it's like he's playing the same character in each movie, and only in AD did his character work. Everywhere else he isn't funny or strike me as talented.

His best role was the one where he played the awkward teenager.
That's about the only thing he's good at.
To be fair, that's why he's loved by many. No one nails 'awkward teenager' quite to the caricature level that Cera can. I really don't want him to change his role; it never gets old to me. :)

Too bad it probably will get old as soon as he does.

Ain't nothing wrong with Cera.

He was good in Superbad, and alright in Juno. Youth In Revolt was really good and I can't wait to see Scott Pilgrim. Although Nick And Nora's infinite playlist was shitty.

EDIT: Year One was fucking awful. Even though I like both Jack Black and Michael Cera. Just that film was so bad.

I thought he was great in Scott Pilgrim. He is a bit of a character actor, but is that necessarily a bad thing?

Thought he was good in that and Scott Pilgrim, Juno, Superbad.

Not much variety from him yet but that doesn't make me rage like it seems to make you guys.

A lot of Comedic actors are fairly predictable, basically playing the same role. I guess I like the Michael-Cera-is-awkward as much or more than some of the other options: Ben-Stiller-receives-pain, Will-Farrell-is-creepy, Vince-Vaughn-is-emotionally-distant, Ray-Romano-complains.

He's 22, born a year before me. I'm not a creeper.

Too me he is a good actor. Though I had no interest in seeing Nick and Nora's infinite playlist. SuperBad: Hilarious. Scott Pilgrim: Awesome. He is really good, but he i typecast too often. When I first saw him I wanted to punch him in the face, but most of my friends say that about me.

He was amazing in Arrested Development.

I liked him in Superbad and Youth in Revolt.

Everything else was fairly throwaway.

Haven't seen Scott Pilgrim.

Not sure why people hate on him. He doesn't appear to be particularly narcissistic; I think he'd happily cop to his limited acting range and obvious typecasting.

95% of actors act like themselves. There are maybe a dozen actual chameleons on the A-list. Saying a guy plays himself in every movie isn't exactly uncommon or biting criticism.
