Well, until it's out and the world can see what it's performance is really like there is nothing else to discuss.

Pretty much just as I thought: The console is neat. 4K is fun. But there ain't all that much tempting me to bite.

If you're only looking at playing 3rd Party games on a console, the One X is the way to go, but if you are looking at playing awesome exclusives, you should probably still grab a PS4, because Xbox is so behind right now.

Don't really see that changing anytime soon.

Not going to win a line of Noughts and Crosses with that, foolish MS. But perhaps 'XXX' would present a little too ominous an impression for all those mothers seeking some wholesome alternative to child therapy that won't reflect too badly on their parenting skills.

I'm thinking someone at Microsoft is a fan of anagrams. (Xbox One X - XBOX)

Or, someone is a fan of palindromes but completely fails at the concept of making one.

Or, more likely, their marketing team were too unimaginative to think up a good name [footnote]Because fuck those design and engineering team nerds and their stupid "Scorpio" name. The fuck does that even mean? Dorks.[/footnote] so they asked some random jackass on Live to think of a name. Thus, in light of the limited mental capacity of the average Live user, we end up with a name that looks like a gamertag. It starts with an X and ends with an X.

I mean, it IS a catastrophically stupid name. Right up there with Battlefield 1 and Horizon: Zero Dawn in the gilded halls of Things With Stupid Names. That said:

How about that absurd price tag that several analysts have said is too high for whats in it?

How about that it'll eventually create a rift between Xbox users, not unlike what the Expansion Pack did for the N64? Only worse this time 'round because of the prevalence of online play.

How about the fact that they've spent an ungodly amount of time and money making this thing but still can't be arsed to upgrade and improve their online service? (a service, I might add, that they still charge for)

How about that Microsoft spent their time on building a machine to compete with the PS4Pro at a technical level instead of competing in the one area they needed to compete in: Exclusives people want to play.

There are plenty of complaints. It's just that people are laughing the loudest about the dumb name.

What a dumb fucking name.

I guess I'll watch the Switch more and see if they'll release a new, good Tomodachi on it. Then, I'm sold. Have nothing to look forward to on the Onyx, except for all the damn games from every single MS console. Which aren't as many for me.
I just saw someone explaining the name.
it makes sense now.
it's still an awkward name, but it makes sense.

X
Box
One
X

...i'll be sticking with Onyx/Onex until someone comes up with one that's funny and/or embarrassing.

I think I might buy one of these. I've got a lot of Xbox One games. I play fairly religiously. I'm finally at a place in life where I can afford to purchase a new console when it launches. Also, it would be a good excuse to shell out for a 4k TV. I'm gonna consider this purchase.
