ummm....no. She had her hand in Office 7, not Windows 7.

Granted I don't follow corporate execs too much, but that's where I got my information from. I suppose I could be wrong though.

I like her I hope she can turn things around. IT will be hard but i hope it can happen.
She cannot really do shit at this point, at least not for the XBOne. The design, components and spec's have already been decided by someone else.

All she is going to do is oversee the mass-production.

And if there is physical problem this gen like the RRoD (due to bad soldering) of the last, because she is now in charge she is going to get all the shit and blame, even though it was someone else's bad design.
While it's finalized now it is possible that she can design a better looking one that would be released later on. I mean you know they are gonna make a smaller or slim version of the Xbox One or something, seeing as how there are so many different models of the 360.

OT: I wish her luck as she is gonna need a lot of it.

I half agree, she can always redesign the system 'cos how many 360's are we up to now? 4 or 5?

My guess is she will have to wait a handful of months, then start the next versions design. It could be a better start than just launching a brand new console all on your lonesome.

Kind of off topic but, it's not very often you see a woman in a high profile role ... it's usually some 60+ man. Kind of cool.
How long do you think until she offers a kinnect free model?
This is the woman that gave us the "Ribbon" interface in Office and rammed Windows 8 down our throats. I think the chance of improvements in the XBox 180 are slim to none.

She was part of the Windows 7 team. She was in charge of Windows 8.

This doesn't really mean much to me. I have no idea who she is or what she has done in the past. For all we know, she could be worse than the last idiot that held the position. And, as others have said, I don't think she'll be able to fix anything overnight. At best, she'll make some meaningful changes in a year's time. Hope they are good ones.

They did change most of their DRM policies overnight, so I guess they still have some control and changeability over the XBOX specs.

And its still a pretty high position with a lot of security. After all, Mattrick almost set the division on fire on his way out, and got a promotion for his trouble. I don't think her work is going to be easy, but its too early to rule her out as just a scapegoat. After all, she used to be vice president of Windows, so she not going to get much more shit now that she got due to 8...
To be fair, as I understand it, the 180 comes in the form of a patch that you will have to download on Day One. Which is not the most encouraging news I can imagine. You have to unbox, set up, and then patch your brand new console, just so you can use it as it should have been on Day One to begin with.

Yes, they fixed it, but they can't fix it on their end, despite the amount of time they have till launch. Maybe future versions of the console, though. Or I could be misinformed. Doesn't really affect me, though.

The online DRM is just a software change, a proverbial off switch was hit. She cannot remove the Kinnect (though its requirement for the system to run would be possible to change), so yes she can do something but her hands are also heavily tied. She cant fix the stuff up of the Kinnect wasting so much ram etc.

I wish her the best of luck. It's not going to be an easy job to have.
I honestly feel sorry for her, she is going to go grey trying to fix the utter mess Mattrick left behind. Honestly, I don't think he could have done more damage to the Xbone if he just shouted racial slurs on stage for a ten minutes.

But who knows, maybe she'll be able to salvage this mess, not like she can do any more damage to it.

I will wish her the best of luck though.

Eeek! Now I understand the skepticism. In a way, it almost seems like a match made in heaven, Windows 8 and the Xbox One.
