Microsoft creates HoloDesk

Haven't found anything yet about this one, so thought I share this after discovering this new piece of technology.

Basically, through the pure awesomeness of the Kinect, it creates the optical illusion that you can actively interact with virtual 3D objects.
While I am sure there is more to this, I'll leave that part to people who actually know stuff about it.

This is pretty cool; hopefully they can make the scale bigger in the future.

Looks not unlike something the head of IT at my work wanted to buy from M$, but it wasn't 3D.

Still, the link to a Hot Wheels video that appeared in the sidebar for me was pretty cool. Dude built a Hot Wheels track that went all round a 14-room house, out the front, round the block and in the back door. I decided against linking because the video ends with an appeal for donations to some research foundation or other.
