Why is this even news? It's pretty clear now that everybody except from Valve has done microtransactions/DLC wrong. And possibly CCP.

Might as well be a facebook game....

While it starts off looking affordable (20 bucks) they'll continue to add more stuff for more cash, and if any of that stuff happens to be above cosmetic details you'll bet that it'll make your previous 20 bucks a waste of money.

In sum, that means players who are spending money are going to have very tangible in-game advantages.
This right here is the number one reason why so many free to play games fail hardcore and its such simple mistake its actually surprising that some companies make it.

F2P Micro-transactions work fine, but they should NEVER give one player a direct advantage over another, especially one that a free to play player cannot get. The majority of players in these games will be the ones who are playing for free and they will pay money when they realize they enjoy the game and want more, less people will pay when forced to.

Paying for EXP boosts, Cosmetic items, in game cash/resources etc is fine because these are all things that do not disadvantage the free players and are things that they either do not need or could obtain normally though over a longer period of time.

Paying for unique and over powered weapons, gear, stat increases etc is just going to alienate the free players because it makes them feel disadvantaged and makes players feel as if their only options are to pay or not play. Most of these players will most likely take the option of not playing and will not pay for the game, which will result in the game loosing most of its player base.

I can't really respect the game in general, they take a longer time to make it than 3 or it's expansions and they pump out this? I see it going the Age of Mythology rout, that is to say, quickly forgotten.
But....but....

What was wrong with Age of Mythology..

I thought it was great :3

It wasn't completely worked out and as far as game play goes it was pretty up and down, however it did bring online play to the foreground for AOE so I'm willing to forgive it, too bad there won't be another true AOE game seeing as the developer got shut down.

Well they've garenteed I'll never even look at this game beyond this new posting. This sort of approach is uncontrolled greed in action.
