well for those that think m$ is such a great company and thinks of you as a nice person and valued customer, they've once again shown what they're really after, money and that's it. they decided to open a new music service that makes Spore's DRM look lenient and non-existent. you can only have the music on your mobile device, you can't transfer it to your own pc or from your pc to your phone. the service costs almost double what itunes and amazon's songs do and they have no DRM
there is a nice interview done on this, located here. [http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/245859/qa-microsoft-defends-return-to-drm.html] which has one of my favorite quotes in it which is this
it is really made clear when you see something like this. [http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/valve-pirates-are-just-underserved-customers/?biz=1&page=1] which is something that hits the nail on the head about why piracy occurs or at least one of the main reasons and it's by one of our fav game companies Valve
now to use me as an example, i love me some Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica/Stargate Atlantis. Auntie Beeb likes to show the good Doctor starting early April and goes till early July, however here in Canada the CBC won't show any new episodes until July or Sept at the earliest, which is well after the BBC has stopped showing it and long after they offered it for free on their website. so what am i going to do? you got it, dl the show. i'd pay $2 or so to get to watch each episode on our on-demand service if it was offered soon after the BBC aired it but it's not like that.
now as for the BSG/Atlantis thing. they both air on fridays on Sci-Fi in the States. Space (think Sci-Fi channel but it only shows sci-fi shows) used to show BSG on Sat, then Sunday and then moved it to fridays at the same time as Sci-Fi because a lot of ppl would download it and not watch it on the tv. as for Atlantis, TMN (our HBO/Showtime) would show it on mondays and in hd. now with both shows cause i only had a day or two wait, i'd wait the day or two to watch the show on my big hdtv instead of my 19" lcd monitor.
two good examples of how a company could better serve me as a client and get my money/attention with little effort but they are unwilling to do so. which goes back to how m$ has missed the point of servicing the client and is basically pulling a massive dick move.
i'm not sure what other escapists think but it does give you a lot to think when it comes to dl'n and what you can do for something you paid for

now with this nice take our DRM and like it scheme they're pulling, they've once again made their music service a failure without even launching yet. this brings up how they don't understand the consumer or why piracy and such occur. If I buy these songs on your service - and they're locked to my phone - what happens when I upgrade my phone in six months' time?
Well, I think you know the answer to that.
