Hmmm...classy.

I don't believe them, but at least they aren't gloating.
They realize very-well that they could get targeted for a hack just like Sony did. Not to mention that they know very-well that people could look at the Sony situation and decide to pass on getting XBLA games because they're worried that the same thing might happen to Microsoft. So yeah, this whole thing is just as bad for Microsoft as it is Sony, just not as directly. Heck, even Nintendo got hacked recently, IIRC.

Wasn't there a sale on Gold subscriptions during the PSN outage?

Microsoft has been pretty smart about this, I think. "Oh, what happened to Sony was terrible! That said, since you're already here, I've got an offer for you."
Microsoft has been offering sales and incentive packages for quite a while. The PSN hack has nothing to do with that.

we don't want to appear to even be looking to be taking advantage of somebody else's situation like that," Durkin added. "That's just not in our DNA."
Wait, he managed to keep a straight face while saying that? :p
I had to laugh out loud when I read your post. xD
X2! :)
You know Microsoft, times like this you don't look like an evil empire and make getting a xbox sound plasuable, until the price tag of internet vs free is remembered. Still, worthy of consideration.
