Hey people yeah I need some help. Here's the situation in case I leave anything out to chance:

There's two computers in the house and I installed Microsoft Word in on both of them but unfortunately it's not working on my computer. Before anyone asks it's the Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. I thought maybe that was the problem itself; the two computers but no get a load of this.

It prompted me one day to 'activate it over the internet' so I tried. Unfortunately it stated I had no internet connection despite the fact I'm currently ON the 'net. So I wondered if maybe it was because I'm using a wireless network connection for this one and the other's wired.

*Sigh* Anyone? =/

Not sure if you can activate it twice. I always thought the point of online activation was so that you couldn't use the same software on two computers.

Did you try plugging it in to the hard line? AFAIK MS Office licences are for 2 PCs, student editions might be different. No real idea what's wrong in your case though.

You probably only have one license, so it won't validate the other one.
Yeah I was afraid of that. Just have to buy another one for this computer. =/
wrong, every home and student, and teacher and student edition give you 3 licences, as long as it's in the same household. So you can install it on your two PC by legit mean. But they might have pull the plug on activation server for that edition, since it's now 2 edition behind. so like i said, try phone activation.

Are you running any type of proxy on that pc? We know your internet is working on that computer and you can activate up to 3 copies in your home per the MS license agreement so its not that. There is something on that pc keeping you from connecting to the server that verifies license authenticity. Maybe a piece of malware or a virus.

Try this:

From the command prompt type netsh winsock reset
netsh firewall reset

From internet explorer: tools > internet options > security tab > reset all zones to default level

Reboot and activate again.

If that fails check c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc for the hosts file. Open it with notepad and be sure it looks as follows:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
