So I learned that in 1 vs 100 if you are in the one or the hundred you can win Microsoft points. This got me thinking, what if you could wager Microsoft points in online games? Would Microsoft be able to legally get away with it? Would people use this feature? Gimme' your two cents!

No it would not be legal because X-Box Live is marketed to people under 19.
There are parental controls and stuff so microsoft can say they are stopping it.

God no, thats as bad an idea as being able to give away points from one account to another.

Far too many little kids use Xbox Live, giving them a way to gamble real money is crossing the line.

EDIT: A credit card is linked to your account and xbox, so a kid who gets a credit card can waste a lot of money.

Gambling something that comes with a real-world price is playing with fire. MS would probably be violating US federal law against Internet gambling with a service like that. Playing games of chance where you could win (but not lose) MS Points would be a different matter (there's no law against that), but that's not the same thing. I do think it would be interesting if they had stuff like online game tournaments or "mock money" Texas Hold 'Em where you could win stuff...it'd generate a lot of buzz.

I'd like to test my gaming skills with a bet but I wouldn't bet too much.

I can just imagine all the 15 year old kiddies gambling away their parent's savings on Halo 3...

Thats the last thing live needs. People are already pompous dill-heads as it is, no need to let them have free reign over money, most likely their parent's. Not to mention it makes things way too competitive:
Jim: "Hey guys, I'm kind of new to this game, anyone want to skirmish to show me how it's done?"
Max Steel: "PSSSSHHH, look at this tool! Hey [Insert most likely homophobic phrase here] I'll bet you 10 points that I can dominate your noob ass!"
Jim: "Uh, well, You probably will. I'm kind of ne-"
Max: "STFU n Play, [Homophobic Threat here] LOL!"

i think we should leave gambling out the hands of the online market. Call me paranoid but i just dont think we as a people are responisble enough to enjoy it in moderation, and i dont think the technology is right either, i dont think xbox live is secure enough to be used as a medium for gambling. if all the players and beters (is beters a word?) were in the same room that would be something to get behind but for now lets keep those microsoft points as a prize, not a medium for gambling. (before u say anything, i have nothing against gambling. as in everything in life, moderation is key.)

It is a shame really. Not that we can't gamble but because of gambling worries I can't give my friend the extra 100 points he needs to buy an arcade game for us to play together.

It would also be really hard to monitor. If I make a wager then welch on it it will just end with bad feelings. Defeats the first line of the code and conduct. You know the part about having fun.

A corporation is a group of people, people have ethics.

A but here is the kicker - microsoft points are not legal tender - they are exchanged online for goods and services - gambling with MS points would not be against the law for any age as those points do not retain any physical world value. Unethical? certainly - illegal? nope

I don't think Microsoft would be comfortable with the idea of underage kids getting hooked on gambling on their family-friendly console.
