DHL is the contracted forwarder. They buy space on the rail and use it to move their own shipments. As such, they are still on the hook with Microsoft because it was their choice to use said subcontractor.

Self-insured sounds like a fancy way of saying "real insurance sure is expensive, let's do fake insurance instead."

What's the point of self-insurance if payout is unthinkable?

Depending on the state of the train wreck, are the 360s really going to be in a condition worth pilfering? Even taking into account the RROD...
