Too bad we can't do a ban of complete assholes on Xbox Live, because then they'd probably have less members than the PSN..
yeah....its called disc replacement, that's why you keep all receipts, you mail your broken disc to them with the original packaging *IE the games box* and they will send you a new disc, you MIGHT have to pay shipping and handling but that should be no more then 4-6 bucks, and if you say that's "too much money" then maybe you should stop playing your games and get a job *for those "but I am under 15 I cant get a job there for the world should cater to me", mow yards, rake leaves, pass out flier's, hell, wash windows. And if you think your above manual labor, please remove your self from humanity, preferably with gasoline/petrol and matches. Plus companies never advertise disc replacement, you have to look for it *Google is your friend*. And on the import subject, I am not sure if you guys can read, but in the manual it said "don't be a douche and mod our hardware, or you will feel the odder busting power of the BANHAMMER", just because you buy the console does not mean you can violate the companies rules, seeing as how you agreed to it by buying the console. Plus people I don't know if this might work but try "flashing" your console, if you don't know what that means then you should not do it anyways.Amnestic said:Technical know how/concern does not account for human error or grubby fingered family members =.=rossatdi said:Honestly I never bought the whole 'back up my disc' thing. Anyone who has the technical know how or concern to mod a console can keep game discs safe. As for imports, that's a tough one but is there really that much on the import market that's worth it?Furburt said:It was a bit of a blitzkrieg, wasn't it?
It annoys me that people who just modded the console to play imports or back up games get their thing banned too though.
Yes there is alot of reason to import, if you dont your more than likely to miss most of the entire libary of shmups on the 360. (im talking about the ones not on live, but on disks). And of course early releases in most countrys, if you know the launguage its freaking exelent.rossatdi said:Honestly I never bought the whole 'back up my disc' thing. The last thing you should expect is anyone to sympathize with you.squid5580 said:We do?rossatdi said:It isn't like I don't sympathize with AU gamers. Or really see the need for this country gets the game release first. We do have to play by their rules though.
Wouldn't be surprised. Good strategy, after all. Run a check after the release of a hugely popular game.ColdStorage said:This sounds strangely familiar, didn't Microsoft pull the same "mass ban" prior to Halo 3's release?.
It's microsoft that is "unapologetic", not the pirates, who I could care less.GamingAwesome1 said:"Unapologetic?" They should be, pirates don't really deserve to get away with it. Whenever someone pirates a really awesome game, I slap them and tell them to go buy it, the company who made the kick ass game deserves the money in return.
I'm not saying they should be apologetic. I'm saying I'm not surprised they're not.GonzoGamer said:Why would they be apologetic? They knew what they were doing. Sure they may have pissed off a few people that don't end up helping their attach rates anyway but they probably got a huge boost in hardware sales as a result of people's 360s breaking.
It's probably the best thing to happen to the 360's hardware sales since the rrod first hit.
That seems to be their strategy. And it's a good one.thebobmaster said:Wouldn't be surprised. Good strategy, after all. Run a check after the release of a hugely popular game.
1% Homebrews and Imports, 99% pirates.Malygris said:The crackdown was aimed at owners of modded consoles, which can be used to play pirated games (as well as homebrew apps and imported games)
Hilarious. It's people like you who are the reason Microsoft does this, you know. Do you really think you're going to solve the problem of pirating with... more pirating? Take that, Microsoft.Captain Blackout said:Note to self: Buy an Xbox, steal another one, pirate the fuck out of everything I can, and tell MS what I'm up to so they know their idiot tactics are nothing more than goat-fucking.

Fighting fire with water is much more effective than fighting it with fire. And make sure to link a screencap or something when you tell Microsoft you are stealing from them.
I'm glad you numbered your points, because I hate making multiple quote boxes.Captain Blackout said:Fuck Microsoft!
1. Bill "I'm a thief" Gates started Microsoft with acts of technological piracy! Little hard to take the moral high ground against piracy and be "unapologetic" under such circumstances.
2. I have a really hard time telling if this is honestly just against piracy. I'm certain someone at MS (as mentioned before in this thread) said "Keep the accounts, there's money to made here."
3. When will MS and EA and whichever other morons are out there learn: This sort of tactic doesn't stop piracy! It pisses pirates, both moral and amoral, off. Pissed off pirates don't stop pirating, they go pirate more!
4. I'm nowhere near as stupid as Mr. "fuck all pirates, I want to be the last one!" Gates so I won't be screencapping and letting myself get caught.
5. Before you bring out the retard tired argument "Well of course Bill is smarter than you, he has more money." I'm calling BS: More money means you are more focused and/or ruthless in your pursuit of money, not smarter.
At some point, MS is going to have to learn how to deal with piracy effectively. Think Akido or Tai Chi instead of nukes. The force MS puts out into the world is the force that will come back at them. If MS doesn't want piracy in the world they should bloody well quit finding new ways to feed it.
