Hahahaha, this is a joke right?
Internet Explorer? Really?

The PS3's internet browser may be a bit lacking, but at least it isn't Internet Explorer. It's a good job MS is beta testing this first, because it's going to start out very rough.
I remember that old rumor of Firefox being implemented into the PS3 that nothing came of it, but with this announcement that MIGHT make the thought of a PS3 running a Firefox browser become a realty...

Would it be mean to say that wherever I reinstall windows 7 that I spend ridiculous amount of time making every shortcut/association/icon of Internet Explorer nonexistent (uninstalling it even) and installing Firefox, Chrome AND Opera?

The web has already passed it's judgement on your shitty web browser Microsoft, to continue to pretend anyone that's over 60 willingly wants to use it is denial!
It would be more accurate if IE (Microsoft) was SNIFFING the industrial strength stuff rather than the chemically safe paper glue...

Actually, believe it or not, when I browse around on my PS3's browser, some sites recognise me as using a version of Mozilla.

Wow, that's interesting! either they HAVE implemented a basic version into the PS3 OS or they have a browser that is VERY compatible with Firefox and porting it to work on the PS3 should be very easy!

Wow...

Thats so... utterly pointless.
Why would any sane person want to browse the internet on a console? Im fairly certain that practically everyone who owns a console also owns a computer of some sort, with which they may *gasp* browse the internet with! Using a keyboard and mouse, which are awesome for said purpose... unlike a controller... which is crap for it.

....

....

Seriously, am I missing something here? I just don't get why implementing this functionality on a console would be a good idea.

Well Firefox is open source, so anyone can take it and do what they want with it. Wouldn't surprise my if they just tweaked that to fit their specifications.

Youtube on your TV is always fun, or any other web videos to show friends and family that are over, whether it be personal videos or just a fat guy falling off a bike.
