In case you haven't seen it.

Couple of them sound decent.
They actually do. Haunt and Steel Battalion especially. Steel Battalion is actually a good idea to integrate with Kinect since it could replace the $200 controller it originally came with.

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'd rather not waste my money on gimmicks. Can't wait until the industry gets back to making games based around game play, than games based around the controller. It's just getting annoying.

Also, feedback is important in games. The lack of rumble in the ps3 was annoying, and it will be worse not having any feedback at all, not even that your controller is working.

Good? I think...

I mean... that's how a business works right? Sell stuff to make money to sell more stuff...

Sounds like a bit of a obvious point to make.
Not really - aren't the PS3 and XBox profit losing, the games making up for that?
No not anymore. Both Sony and Microsoft now make money on each console sold.

The description of Haunt sounds pretty bad..."Gather friends and family to delve deep into a haunted house dripping with mystery...spooky fun for Kinect for Xbox 360".
I actually never played the original steel battalion but i would be very surprised if kinect could pull of replacing that huge controller. Just doesn't seem precise enough.
Oh and codename D and Draco sound cool but...idk cautiously pessimistic.

I was aware of the PS3 losing money on each console but I don't think the 360 ever was.

Still I don't know, maybe.

Even though I'm not all that interested in the Kinect the possibility of it bombing is troublesome. Check out Extra Credits, they made a very valid point about it.

*checks for brain tumors* no. none.

then WHY are you in favor of this? they all look awful!

The dead rising game actually looks pretty good I imagine it would be fun to decapitate zombies with my own hands.

Codename D. that may be good but i haven't seen anything so im going to assume that it will suck. that way if they prove me wrong it will be awesome.

Steel Battalion... they raped the franchise. did you ever play the original? if not then go play your motion controlled remake. il be playing with 6 pedals and 2 sticks. (seriously THAT was the controller)

and even though im an unrepentant sony fanboy. i hate the Move as well. i just hate ALL motion controls. (i need buttons!)
I'm not a big fan of motion control.

But to me it's one small step towards being plugged into a game... do want.

And I'm waiting for my RTS where I can control my troops using my hands.

'Go forth minions! CRUSH THEM' *getting too much into it*

Well of course the descriptions makes it seem like a family game. That's what Kinect is targeting. DO you think the developer would come out and say that this is an incredibly hardcore experience and Joe and Jane gamer need not apply? I saw a preview of Haunt on g4 a while back. It looks pretty good.

Haha TRUE! Still though, it was a barrier to a lot of people. If Kinect is precise enough to get the controls right this could be awesome too.

Too late, the Wii continues to sell faster than the PS2 ever did over a year.

OT: Nice to see that Microsoft took more than one thing from Nintendo's playbook. Day one profits are always nice to have.

Just because there isn't at the moment, doesn't mean there isn't going to be any.

So, you don't want motion controls to be a part of gaming?

I would ask, do you ever want to see stuff like holodecks from Star Trek come about? Motion controls are the first step.

Granted that we likely won't see it in our lifetimes, but I'm just glad to know that it is in the works.

Most interesting thing that being on the Escapist taught me: hardcore gamers are remarkably conservative. Every thread about motion controls have basically the same reactions, most of them about wanting said motion control to fail.

(It's not just with motion control, of course, but this is a hot topic right now.)
