Microsoft is going the way of Sega.
Their first console was a match for the big player of the time (Xbox vs PS2 = NES vs Sega Master System). Their 2nd was released not long after and demolished everything of the time (360 = Genesis). Then their big competitor released a console noticably stronger but not overwhelimingly so (PS3 = SNES, the PS3 has more processing power and the SNES had a better sound chip among a few other things). They release add-ons to try to keep their console afloat when their competitor starts defeating them (Sega CD+32x+Sega Activator (I think that is what Sega's full body motion controller was called) = Kinect). They then hurridly release a new console which flops (Saturn). They then make 1 last effort which has a good start but again loses out (Dreamcast).

MS are at the add-on stage. I foresee a new console coming in a few years which will utterly fail.

When that happens i'll only facepalm and lose faith in the fact that microsoft didn't actually see it coming.

ok 1st the wii then the 360 next will be the ps3. i bet next gen will be a bad year for gamers, maybe a good 1 for retro gamers if Nintendo continues to go retro like it has just started now.

*hangs head in shame* ...just why? whats the point? if you want a "family entertainment thing" just make one...its not like its hard Microsoft, your richer then rich anyway. im not even kidding if you threw 3 billion out the window it wouldnt effect you really (last i checked Microsoft is a multi-billion corporation, like 750 bill or something...). so just make one and get it over with if you want to make one. and just make a gaming system by its side. why merge it all into one mess? (lets face it,the 360 is becoming a mess atm...) why focus less on video games now? do you even remember what the original Xbox was?

ya know, its sad to say that stuff like this turns me off console gaming even more. sure we PC gamers are getting alot of this over the top copyright protection thing going, but at least its manageable to a degree...if we really want to we can mod the game so we dont HAVE to be online to play OFFLINE...

lets face it, no body that can afford a console has the time to play it anymore. maybe casual games are the way forward? It's a no brainer, especially when they see a billion people playing games like peggle.

What will become of the people that currently make my games though? will they be asked to make a more family oriented Gears of war for me to enjoy with my folks?

maybe they will produce a console that plays games they want to make

It's not like it matters. They've already hacked the kinect for PC use. Which is awesome and revolutionary. Seriously, the kinect is an amazing piece of technology that should not be limited to just games - it could revolutionize the way we interact with our computers. A new form of virtual interaction. Which includes porn.

Their attempt to stop this is just going to end in failure. If they refuse to let porn use their technology, then someone else will come up with some version of it that is the same thing but with enough modification to not be patent infringement, and that will be the primary means of virtual interaction instead of the kinect.

I honestly don't see this ending well. Either they back down or Sony starts to take over the Gamer market I think.

Let him believe his fairy tales, I'm gonna continue to play my not family oriented games over here. Call me when he remembers why the xbox came out in the first place
