Microsoft: Xbox One Overhaul Hasn't Hurt Momentum

Nope, nope, nope. Between the NSA and reports of internet trolls hacking webcams, I'm not going to get an Xbox One until that Kinect isn't needed or Microsoft really proves that the thing is secure as hell and they're not giving away my personal information. I don't care if they are only picking up personal info for marketing purposes. All they are going to do is identify that I'm female, then start advertising makeup, candy, and cleaning products.

The technology is honestly cool, being able to control things without a controller, being able to say voice commands, but I really can't trust the damn thing right now.

Yes of course they didn't lose momentum. They have none left! Changing the tires on a car is all well and good but it doesn't change the momentum if the car isn't moving. The Xbone has been DOA since about min 5 of their teaser trailer months ago. Really, nothing they do could possibly make it look any worse in the eyes of the consumers. Its not even a console - its a marketing gimmick aimed at millennial tweens and FB users.

The Xbox one is the Justin Beiber of video game consoles.

I can`t say that I exactly believe that statement, considering the beating they weathered, but I can say that the store I work at, we have no more XBone preorder slots left, but we are still open for PS4 orders. Now It could be that we are just getting more PS4`s than XBone`s on launch, but I wouldn`t call it dead in the water.

Still torn on which one I`ll get first though... All I really want is Titanfall and Watchdogs, and both of them are coming to PC XD

the Xbox One is "remaining true to our vision..."
Maybe we are being too hard on Microsoft. Perhaps their vision WAS to have a terrible launch, to not focus on games, to be anti-consumer, to force unwanted hardware on customers and to be completely incompetent when the media inevitably asked questions; then to reverse almost every policy and feature (except the sacred TV features (Only available in North America)) whilst attempting to save face, because the competition was making a mockery of you and the internet was lapping it up? In which case they have remained true to their vision.

"...we remain true to our vision that we want to be wherever our consumers want us to be."
"We want to offer consumers choice"
"Kinect is at the heart of the architecture of what we are with Xbox One ... we are clear on our vision"
These three quotes contradict each other.

You cannot remain true to your vision of consumer choice if you refuse to remove the Kinect when that is what the customer wants, yet your defence of keeping the Kinect is that it is your vision... which you've just told us is customer choice, which is restricted by refusing to remove the Kinect...

Please stop Microsoft, you are devaluing the use of the word "vision"

I have no doubt the Xbone will sell well, even despite all the crap that's been going on. Even while they had the DRM and stuff still going on, I knew people that were still set on getting the Xbone. They've already got the support of the gaming fans already set on buying the Xbone from the start.

Plus they're also going to get support from the people that are excited simply because of the Fantasy Football, Skype, and TV features that were advertised. Xbone is going for a wider audience than Playstation right now.

Either way, doesn't make a lick of difference to me. Unless they royally screw up between now and launch, PS4 for me.

Went to my local game retailer the other day. Just a random store in a random town in a random European country. Number of pre-orders for PS4: 27. For Xbox One: 2.
The Xbox isn't losing momentum indeed. It never had any.

I don't know about it hurting the momentum. In fact all the policies changes probably gave them momentum they did not have. The overclock to the gpu and cpu would worry me If I was getting the new xbox. Both boosts are really nothing to write home about. In fact I would be seriously surprised if it makes any difference at all. Its not like you have graphics options on consoles and games will of course be optimized to run at whatever settings are most stable. If anything I could see it doing more harm than good. Instability problems, overheating etc. A 150Mhz boost to my gpu and 400Mhz to my cpu has almost zero noticeable difference. The minor boosts they gave happened only to give buyers an ego boost in the midst of people talking about ps4's hardware advantage.

They will be wherever the costumer wants them to be, provided the costumer lives in 5 chosen countries.
