Hey fellow Escapists,

I've got a 80gb zune, I've had it for a while it's a great player. But recently it started freezing when I tried to play music, and it got to the point where I just tried restoring it (you know - hold down these buttons then those buttons). But instead of removing the problem, no whenever I turn it on it just says "Contact Support". I tried restoring it several more times, but there's been no change.

I'd happily send it off to Microsoft, but I live in Australia, which means I'd probably have to post it internationally... I'm just wondering if I have any other options, like maybe I could fix it myself, or if just a certain item needed replacing (e.g. hard drive). Help me out guyz

Erm, you could maybe try searching for a specialist in your area (do they have Zune specialists?) and if not just someone who's good with MP3 players etc. If that fails then just do what the zune tells you and contact support.

When I've shipped things, Microsoft themselves footed the bill...Don't know what they'd do in your case, though.

If you have already tried connecting it to the PC and checking out the online FAQs, then you should probably give them a call.

Also, Ive been using Ipods my entire (teenage/youngadult) life. I wanted to get a zune, but they don't sell them around here to often. What are the benefits of owning a zune compared to an Ipod?

Microsoft has service facilities in quite a few countries, So your best bet is to contact microsoft support.

zune has better sound quality, and depending on the version. I.E ipod original, zune original...ect battery life is similiar.
the zune hd has quite a bit better battery life because of its OLED screen and I find it to have better picture quality when playing movies over the ipod touch.
Otherwise ipod has better app and such support on most of its versions.

I don't use ipod because I detest apple...but ipods them selves are fine. I use a zune cause my original zune never failed me and I constantly used it, I upgraded to a zune hd 32 gig with a Eddie riggs *brutal legends* etching on the back.

*sry bout double posting, Im so not used to escapist I keep forgetting to not double post*
