Pretty sure the map packs are 20,000x worse than EAs micro transactions. It's all for optional crap that doesn't really effect gameplay, Activision puts out 60 dollars worth of DLC then a new game a month or so after repeating the cycle.

Seriously 15 dollars for maps? I don't know about that sorta thing. I DL'd like 20 maps for L4D2 for free and have been enjoying those. TF2 whatever map I want free, and right the game itself is free. And something more comparable? Blacklight Retribution is free as well.

And thus, the downfall of Call of Duty continues.
Fixed it for you. No need to thank me.
Well thank you good sir, you are of course right. IF we look at the quality of the game. That straight out blows in BlopsII (Specifically the connection issues, but i digress)

Sales wise, which what i was hinting at -granted not really specific- it continued to rise. Hopefully that will go down as well now. I sure won;t be helping it.

[sub][sub][sub]shamefully admits he bought BlOpsII [/sub][/sub][/sub]

This is a good example of micro-transactions done well: all cosmetic changes for those with the kind of disposable income to throw away on such trivial things. I lost interest in the series a few games ago, so I've no personal stake, but I could live with this being implemented into games I do play.

That being said, I remember when games like Capcom vs. SNK came with a palette editor that let you skin your characters however you wanted, so this still smacks a little of selling us things we used to get for free, but it's not nearly as offensive as what other companies are coming out with.

Bravo Activision! You managed to implement Micro-transactions without making the game "pay to win"
You just wait until they offer upgraded kill streak rewards...

or tactical nukes for $100 a pop.

While it doesn't make me happy that they are selling aftermarket things, I would still way rather have optional microtransactions than the bullshit pay-to-play multiplayer stuff they did with games like Battlefield and Homefront or what they were going to do with Dead Space and make it so even different accounts on the same Xbox had to have individual passes for online play.

I love how everyone is just fine with this. Call of Duty is the most profitable name video games has ever seen, and yet they need to implement micro-transactions to keep the game afloat? And don't they have another one on the way in 8 months that is going to sell millions of copies? A game like Call of Duty should be able to offer this sort of thing for free. If they want to charge for it then fine, but with all of the money they have I refuse to view it as anything else but contempt for the consumer.

I play Battlefield and I was wondering about Cod's season pass program (as to BF Premium). First off, does CoD have a season pass for its DLC? If it does, shouldn't it include these cosmetic upgrades? Like it would take literally a day for a programmer to patch this in for 3 systems. Should almost get them for free just for signing up to CoD elite which is an advertising service in itself.

So, anyone else want to pop the bubble of some of the people here and realize that this is actually DLC, not Micro-transactions?

If it looks like DLC, acts like DLC, than it's DLC.

If you want to know what real micro-transactions are, just look at all the freetoplay games and you notice a HUGE difference between DLC and micro-transactions.
