I will be attending the midnight release for Call of Duty: Black Ops in a mere 5 hours and 45 minutes (Australia). This will be my first midnight release attendance, do my feelow Escapists have any advice for surviving said event with game and limbs intact?

Suits of armor help.

Also, avoid squealing in public. Wait till you get home before the squealing!

NSW/VIC? I still have 6 hours 10mins :( I would have no idea coz my EB Games is relatively quiet, major shopping centre with events happening within 5mins of my EB FTW!

NSW, I'm in a pretty big town, so all 3 EB games here are having a midnight release.

Unless the entire crows squeals at once. Then join in lest you get torn apart for not being a big enough fan.

I should know, I (ugh) accompanied my sister to the Breaking Dawn midnight release.

I live literally right in the middle of 2 EB Games stores, both a 5min drive from my house :) One is in a really big shopping center which is having an event and the other is a quieter store, I want that bar fridge dammit!

You are a dedicated sibling, and I applaud you for going above and beyond the call of Family. I'd give you a medal but all I got are internets, so here have 8,999 of em.

A T-rex would win a fight against a million kittens. See the description of the Beta Chatter badge. If they turned on me, I would win.
I did not squeal.

For the love of god do not ask for anything but the bare minimum when checking out at the counter, I literally saw a guy get thrown out of the store because he was trying to buy the game by trading in like..15 crappy games for store credit. Just..get your pre-shopping done beforehand if you want to live.

Urgh, from what I've heard, midnight launches are pretty much a waste of time. IT's not like everyone's beating each other to death to get limited copies, most are pre orders and they'll have more than enough stock. But...good luck. I guess.
These days they aren't really about insuring you get the game, since pre-orders dominate gamestops new retail sails anyways, I go to them for two reasons, first as a gesture of respect and or/fanboyism towards a game, like if I'm just so excited about it that I want to be able to remember going to the midnight release to get it, or if I don't plan on sleeping that night, and need a new game to tie me over xD.

Edited for grammar.

I pre-ordered Black Ops around 5 hours ago to save $20 over just buying on the day. There's a midnight release at the store in around 2 hours but I won't be getting it until tomorrow early afternoon. I have my last uni exam tomorrow morning so figured a good sleep is the better option. Tomorrow night I will get around to playing it.

I went to two midnight launches... and both were for WoW xpacks. Aside from talking to other people who were there for the same reason, it pretty much was a waste of time. Even the talking wasn't much, since I had never seen those people before and never saw them again.

Also, take snacks.
