Ok, for the sake of conversation, let's say one were able to create a fully functional mind-control device. Does anyone know if the device itself is illegal? More specifically, I ask; are there even laws on the subject at all?

After looking at that link all I know is how much I LOVE the original xbox..

On a serious note, I feel if a government uses it it'd be just fine but if an individual did it there'd be a huge shitstorm and the government would take the device and, well, start using it.

That was a great article. Thanks for posting; I'm sure going to spread that amongst my friends.

Ah cracked.com, always giving us information that we would never think is going on. Though these are more mind-control techniques which couldn't be easily regulated anyway. A mind-control device probably would be legal since the creators could just mind-control any judge and jury ruling on the case anyway.

*points to TV*

There are plenty of mind-control devices around. At church there's pretty lights and smoke and EmotionDrums. At the shops there's subtle music playing in the background and advertisements everywhere.

But you mean, a drug or some kind of sci-fi device that can enrapture people by actually disturbing their neurological processes without the hard work of strategic persuasion and all that?

The "Analytical" part of your brain and the "Repetitive Task" part tend to operate in separate rooms. But you didn't need an expert to tell you that. You know you can't solve a complex logic puzzle if I force you to scream the chorus to that Chumbawamba song over and over again while you're doing it. Try it.

Maybe that's why I was so bad at maths >_<

But maybe they're wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I was just being mind-controlled and spouting memorised phrases from the past to make me appear analytical... Repeat after me: question everything.

I can tell you it wouldn't be illegal on certain monstrous criminals or the insane.

Every time I go to a sporting event with my dad, especially basketball games, he pretty much picks the beer of whatever advertisement is playing over their sound system when we're in line. I know he doesn't notice, and I've noticed it happens to my uncle too.

I've taken classes on marketing, and done my own research on this kind of stuff. The amount of "brainwashing" that already takes place is kind of disturbing. But easy to see through once you understand what's going on.
