Odds are you haven't heard of this game. Lucky you.
As the name suggests minDStorm is a brain training game for the Nintendo DS. How original. It features ten minigames split up in to five categories (two games in each). You level up each category to 20 and level up your total level to 100 by doing these games. Going up each level gives you a riddle question or answer.
Ok, so this game was obviously made to cash in on the success of Brain Training, Big Brain Academy and the various other brain training games. Now I have no problem with a game like this if it doesn't waste valuable shelf space in Morrisons (where's my Street Fighter IV) and it's done well. And there's the problem. This may be the most rushed game in history. For example the first letter of nearly every sentence is missing. For example, if I want to select the riddle the fake coin it will say, "he fake coin. ere's the question." This would be a minor annoyance in any other game but when there's spelling problems in a brain training game you know there's got to be something wrong.
The games are boring, uninteresting and not very educational. For example in a game called maze you guide a ball round a maze with your stylus without hitting the obstacles or sides (like a wire game). Now this game may give you a steadier hand but how the hell is it supposed to make me smarter. Also said game is unbelievably easy. You're told not to hit the sides but they're so far apart that it's nearly impossible.
Other minigames aren't much better. The games can be easy as hell on the hardest difficulty sometimes and don't get me started on the riddles. It would be fun if you could do them but instead you have to get up another level and have it give you the answers. Also, it's incredibly short. It surprisingly easy to get to level 100 and after that there's nothing. 10 games is way to little.
I gave this game a fair chance. I read all the riddles and I got to level 100, but despite all this I feel dumber. I wish I could say something good about this game. I guess it tried, but trying doesn't get the fat kid on the school football team. Two out of ten.
