Due to problems with my computer, I had to wipe my hard drive, and lost my save file, but I wasn't too angry. The reason is that with the adventure update coming up, it does not seem it will affect existing worlds, seeing as it will have to spawn NPC villages, similarly to how the biomes update had to spawn new areas, so old worlds became outdated.

However, I almost don't want to start a new world until the final 11/11/11 release because I'm afraid I'll just start over again if something changes and doesn't affect my world. Is there a way around this, or should I put off super-fortress 2.0 until I'm sure the world it's created in will not become antiquated?

It will affect existing worlds but not the chunks that have been loaded so you will have to get away from any place you have already been to see the changes.

What?

It affects existing worlds, you just have to explore areas you haven't already.

It will generate in an area that hasn't been generated yet. Just walk away from your spawn and you'll eventually run into one.

However, you won't be near any of your creations, which will stink.

Was that the case with the Biomes Update, or has Notch announced that?

Because I could have sworn he said they were not affected.
