I got pretty far, but I died in the crypts, the dark room with all those frozen ghosts, and I guess the ghost boss.

Kudos Notch. Good work.

I fully make a suggestion that in minecraft 1.8, there should be a recipe for an arcade console. When you make it and play it, it allows you to play this.

Yes, I think so. whos with me?!
I'm with you. That's a pretty cool idea.

I liked this little gem of a game, it somehow reminded me a lot of Zelda in first person perspective, heck, there even are a couple of puzzles that are quite similar to Zelda's.

I beat it on my second try. It was really fun lol. If you're having trouble with the ghost, remember you have to lead him back to the beginning of the "Maze", and into the white anti-ghost-chest thingy. Plus, always use bullets on the goo-throwing zombie guys. It saves HP. There's 4 potions (That I found) that you can use, and about 80 bullets in total. Make sure to get them all!

It really was fun

Same here, and I was so close to the end of the maze with the ghost boss on my back. Just a few more feet and he would be dust and I would have the last key. I gotta play this again later and I'm sure I will do better (last time I lost quite a bit of health trying to figure out how to kill the ghosts).

Right, beat it first time in 22:49. 1HP left, I panicked so hard at the ghost maze!
I must say that for 48 hours that was a very creative little game.

Much as I love Notch's game philosophy and general demeanor, this article is too short-sighted. This was a prime opportunity to do some excellent research on all the games featured in the competition, as well as stress the part that this is a competition that encourages people to make Games. Additional mention going to the reveal that it is possible to make a game today in 2 days that people of today will find entertaining.
Big fail, Brian. Lazy journalism is Fox's domain. They might get jealous.

Hmm, that one screenshot looks like Catacomb Abyss or that era of gaming. Have to give it a go tonight.

in other news, notch respiratory rate has increased by 6%, only to fall back after 7 seconds.

really? there was a competition going on, and what you decided to describe was a game made by notch?

REALLY?!

i though portal fanboy bs was bad. notch fanboys are taking it to brand new level.

Heres a little tip for those having trouble with the ghost boss.

First, go to the ghost room, and work your way through till you see the pillars where the golden ghost hangs out. Then work your way backwards through the maze. Use strafing instead of look controls (arrows) And you should always remain facing the same direction you were when you engaged the gold ghost.(yes running backwards, that way you dont loose it and have to go back for it) Run through the ghost patch a couple times to get familiar with its pattern and it is should be fairly easy.

Finished it in 24 minutes on my first playthrough. (3 minutes was wasted trying to figure out how to get the last door to open. Definitely impressed with it. Felt a lot like zelda. Now off to check out more of the entries from the contest that was only mentioned as a footnote.
