Minecraft help needed

I need help with a portucllis yet again, this time, I need it to be mechanical, for that extra touch of authenticity.

I have built two towers, each 14 blocks apart and I have made a wall between them. I was thinking of building it 10 x 5 x 2, but I've been incredibly frustrated with the pistons.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can't offer any specific advice because I haven't tried out the pistons yet, but I can point you in the direction of the Minecraft Wiki, which is generally a great resource.
