There was a nice graphical update for the haloween update, it was nice, but unnecessary . i kinda wish that they keep it as it is, its nice.
Me too. Walking to the top of a cliff and seeing a giant 8bit world in front of me still takes my breath away.Woodsey said:Sub-par? I thought it was quite pretty in a funny kinda way.
Think yourself lucky. To simply make the game playable, I have draw distance as 'tiny', graphics set to 'fast', head bobbing disabled, and all sound disabled.Plurralbles said:I actually liked that the graphics weren't demanding in any way whatsoever so I hope he keeps the, "fast" graphics setting to a very bare state like it is. I really dont' want to be stuck at, "Tiny" draw distance all the time.
i can understand their rage over the lack of updates in the past few months (hopefully quelled by Halloween), but it feels like everyone except the NDF seem to ignore the fact he's been busy setting up his own company. Those things take much more time, work, and planning than people think.Jennacide said:If his posts on /v/ are anything to go by, he does 2-3 hours of work, then 7-8 hours of playing with his Lego sets.Irridium said:Then again I have no idea how Notch handles things, or what he plans to do, or anything really. Multiplayer needs love badly. It is the better part of the game IMO, not just creating cool crap, but letting others see it and seeing what others too have done.
Have you looked into all the different texture packs available? There really are some cool ones out there.Pirate Kitty said:Cool art indeed. I am very much looking forward to this - Minecraft's art has begun to bore me as it stands.
Dwarf Fortress isn't actually ascii, they just use tiles with pictures of ascii characters on them (seriously).Irridium said:There's a reason Minecraft looks the way it looks. Don't be fooled, you need a pretty beefy computer to play Minecraft. He just put all that processing power into something other then graphics.
Hell, Dwarf Fortress is fucking ascii, and will bring any modern computer to it?s knees.
Point is, don't worry so much about the graphics. They're fine. If you try to improve them, there's a chance you could cause computers to catch fire or something.

Really? I mean, it's okay for programmer art and sets a nice tone for the game but you don't think it can be improved?Jesus Phish said:I always thought that was one of the appealing factors of the game.Rakkana said:But... I like it the way it is...
I never said I didnt think it could be improved, I just stated I always thought part of the appeal of the game was how simple the graphics are.Unrulyhandbag said:Really? Don't misunderstand, I'm not against Notch or anything. I was one of the people defending him for that very reason on sites like Kotaku when the whole fiasco started. But it's also worth noting he DOES post on /v/ infrequently, and really shouldn't be using a tripcode so people know when he is.GLo Jones said:i can understand their rage over the lack of updates in the past few months (hopefully quelled by Halloween), but it feels like everyone except the NDF seem to ignore the fact he's been busy setting up his own company.
