Its interesting how in the absence of a storyline people are able to create their own theories so readily....

So, who here agrees that Minecraft is in fact really a game based around the bible and not in fact an open sandbox game at all? Although as an offshoot discussion, does anyone at present create their own storylines around Minecraft when they're playing?

Yeah, there was already a thread.

But I don't really like this site. At all.

They gave Portal 0. D:

Seriously? They're comparing the sheep to biblical teachings?
Either they're kidding, or the kind of prick who thinks everyone thinks the same as him/her.

And apparently, the fishing part is sooo to do with the bible.

So then, Notch made minecraft to teach the bible? Riiight.

Edit: I'm in a bit of a grouchy mood, and I just read the Portal review. He can't have played it through as he says Gladys, instead of GLADoS. Plus, do Atheists actually have prophets?

Hehehe, they're trolling. There's no way around it.

Seriously, either that or brain damage.

"The player learns through trial and error to build his shelter on solid rock instead of falling sand, much as we should build our lives on the rock of Jesus."

Ahaha. Ahaha. Haha. Ha...

The bible is just a book with stories about how to survive in the ancient world and how not to die from desease from badly cooked meat, presented in a way illiterate peasants can understand. So it makes sense that they beleive minecraft to be a biblical game; strict christians see the bible everywhere. It's like cocaine for them or something.
Come on people; it's just a game.

The only message is: have fun.

Also: there is no god, the player(human) is the god of his own world.

minecraft is just awesome.

P.S.: I think they're just ignorant fools btw.
P.P.S.: Also, I have nothing against christians, I had a christian education myself, but I'm a historian now, so I have to interprit the bible according to my own knowledge and beleives.

As a very devoted Catholic, I can safely say that there is absolutely no way it's a biblical game. Seriously, Notch didn't even call the new region Hell.

My guy was exiled from his planet and confined to this uncolonized world. Maybe one day he shall meet others like him, sent from their homes for crimes and banished to this giant empty land, but for now, he is alone. So alone...

He should have... not enough games have Hell in them... I mean we have Doom... God Of War... and that's about it... so may can be improved by adding Hell... like Pokemon or Kirby...<.<

OT: Yes there was a thread on this earlier...

Wow, I never knew that the name Alpha was a religious referance. I just assumed that it was still in Alpha testing.

Yeah, I'm a Catholic and I never found that mining for coal and building big minecart rollercoasters translated to the bible.

Apparently, whoever wrote that article hasn't seen the numerous gravity-defying soil formations that tend to pop up. I always get a kick out of seeing dirt naturally hovering in midair.

I have a question for the gentleman, how does he explain the giant, naturally formed cock sitting infront of my castle? If it's a sign from God,he sure is one dirty bastard.

Also, zombies appear to be immune to crosses.Last time I tried(just after reading the review),an explosive zombie just walked up behind me and blew up in my face, ripping apart the cross at the same time.
Not impressed by God's efficiency in the game, swords and tnt are much more potent.

How about don't look so deep into a game thats about just doing whatever you want?

There is no meaning to the game, the whole reason is to be creative and survive.

It's a well-known parody site, nothing more. If you follow the links to their wiki, it gets more and more obvious that they're making fun of fundamentalists, not actually fundamentalists themselves. It would be funny if it didn't lead to the angry atheist brigade using it as ammunition against my religion. See also: The Landover Baptist Church. A friend of mine posted a link from their forums on facebook the other day. He honestly thought they were serious.

Actually, Notch was first going to call The Nether "Hell," but he didn't wish to cause any religious problems so he renamed it to the Slip, then The Nether. But yes, I agree, the game is just for fun. These people might also call The Sims some sort of bible game, too. Who knows. Internet, crazy stuff, huh?

(PS: I found it funny when they had the one guy talk to another play about Jesus and such, and the horrible spelling and the goofy way the characters looked, it was just classic)
