Minecraft Servers and Black Screens

So I got Minecraft. Brilliant game loving it. Realised I could download a stand alone launcher, fantastic! Tried to do it; black screen. Google my problem, lots of people have it no solutions.

Ok I'll just play in browser. Good fun. Try to make a browser to play with one friend. Spend the best part of 6 hours trying. Fail at every attempt. My friend manages to make one and when I play it lags so badly that it's not worth playing anyway.

I'm not good with computers. So I guess I'll have to wait until all this server stuff is made even easier then it seems to be already. But this is my minecraft story, whats yours? As regards bugs, not being able to play and have you managed to make a server? If so, I envy you.

Aww that is awesome. Because when I was typing I was typing like he talks I dont know why. Hehe.

i noticed that if you type in swear words for your world seed, you get pretty interesting worlds

yh took my friend about 5 hours to sort out one, took me about 10

and the multiplayer servers are extremely buggy, but give it time, its only a beta version...

never had a black screen though :S

Whenever I try to play offline I just get a black screen after I select the world I want to play in singleplayer.
