Minecraft storage help

Ok I have been playing for a while and I am expanding/revamping my main base. I have a ton of stuff and my short term storage area won't cut it anymore. I am curious as to how you keep mass storage or how you have seen it done.

I figure this is the best time since I am already ripping up my main base to make it bigger. This base is my hub between my underwater base, my main mine, castle 1, the nether, and all of the offshoot mines that are connected to the nether. So as you can imagine there is a ton of stuff here.

In my single player world, I have a gigantic minecart system that is protected spanning the whole nether.
On one end is my main castle, and on the other end is a giant house filled with double chests.

I have several storage and crafting wings on my base. i've seen one person who keeps a "bank" of the stuff behind a steel door all divided into different chests.

This is also when complex structures like cobblestone machines and simple stuff like running your own tree nursery come in handy.


i also like to see this game as a zombie apocalypse simulator.

I suppose you can build several shacks around your base and fill them up with chests.

Interdimensional mine carts leading from your castle to a treasury... that is awesome.

Thats about where I am, jut spread out and in need or a nice organized room. Looking for a way to make it easier to find my stuff.

Place signs above the chests revealing their contents?

yeah what i have done is have a room dedicated to chests, each chest is dedicated to a particular item or item in general for instance

i will have a chest for stone, 1 for cobblestone, one for iron ore/ingots(half and half) etc

i will put a sign above each one as to know whats in it

its very efficient, especially if you build the building high so you can put chests above another one, kinda like a library and use ladders to get to them

Yeah what he said, just make a storage room. And if you have too much crud you don't want just make a lava trash can or something.
