1. From your Minecraft client.
2. Assuming you already bought it, no.
3. Log in to the client and it'll do it for you.

Pretty much this.
If you meant how to acquire it by less legal ways, what the fuck man?
This game is made by one guy, and it's only like 13 bucks!

Only the bought edition contains the main survival mode, and only survival mode gets the update. The free version only have creation mode, which is just a basic version of the game.

There's no "premium" version of Minecraft. There's the free version that's limited, and the full version that you buy. You must buy it to get the new update. If you didn't, you can't play any of the new updates. So go buy it.

That is not quite true. Awhile ago there was a free weekend or something which let anyone try out minecraft for free (log in with an account etc). If you logged in then you could still play offline all you wanted after the free trial was over.

In theory if you downloaded the newest version (or a patch or something) you might still be able to play offline for free (not sure I bought it myself).

Seriously though, games like this need to be supported. If you like minecraft and have played more then 20 hours of it......can't you just pay less then $1 an hour for the entertainment you have already gotten?

$13 is nothing for a game and minecraft can easily entertain you for hundreds of hours ALREADY!! More is forthcoming in the future.

So please just purchase the game:)

If you've already bought the game, the update will download for free the next time you run it.
BTW, the free version is an old game mode that's no longer updated.
