This is damb good and mature song writing. Brilliant lyrics, and I think your best vocal work to date. Great dynamics. I was jamming a sweet outro solo over the top all afternoon when I should have been "Working from home". I actualy think this may be my fave one yet. Find this stuff really inspiring. I had bad experiances in bands as well so became strictly a session musician then had bad experiances with that also and quit working in music all together. This body of work is making me feel like getting back in the studio again. Never thought that would happen:)

This song was like sitting on a horizontal carousel on the second moon-planet of Rinta-tin-tin with the King of All Things Spiffy and six sexy succulent succubus's (succubi?) sitting beside you, declaring their eternal love to the spirits of Niterioana with interpretative dance moves from the 50's, times two. While this was going on seven sailing sailors sailed south, to the border of the continent of Razzmatazvania - which has a reputation of being awesome.

Yes. That sounds about right.

Haven't played the game, but the song is genuinely moving.
I'm very glad people are moved by it, that's what I was going for :)

A great story now has an even better song. Listening to it again I think that it can also be seen as a tribute to the Old West as it was dying in RDR. That's why I'm glad John's story ended the way it did.

He was tied to the Old West for his whole life, and choosing to go out while dispensing some frontier justice against the long arm of the government offered a great deal more closure than I thought it would.

Excellent job.

I tend to be a bit of a critic with music at times only because I personaly am pursuing a life in the music industry but ever since I joined that random thread with your song Gordon Freeman Saved my Life ive been a fan. Im also impressed with how you handle your recording and piecing each part together beautifully. Your a creative writer and from what I can tell a well rounded guy who doesn't let ego get in the way and I respect that. I look forward to hearing more of your work. Keep it up =)

Very very cool lyrics, an amazing piece again. I really really want accustic guitar version of this to riff over...
I think a country style ballad would make a fitting remix here.

Perhaps Mr. Dunne would be generous and make it happen ?

Thank you. I put a lot of time into the production and mixing, it's nice when people notice it.

Haha, I got all my ego stuff out of the way in my early 20s. 31 now and no interest in being a rockstar or doing music to be cool, I just want to make something awesoem and hopefully make a living from what I love :)

At first I was like :) but then I was like :D

Seriously, another amazing song; very different from the others too...shows how varied you are! Great work as usual!

The song was great, but I kind of wish it ended about a minute earlier. Everything after the 3 minute mark messes up the tone a bit.

It's all subjective as it is in any art medium. For me the last two minutes are perfect. Personaly I would have wacked a guitar outro solo in there, but I have to be objective about it as I would quiet happily wack a solo over everything :)

I have a couple of questions for you, Gavin.

In your case, what comes first - the lyrics or the music? And how do you decide which music style you'll use for each particular game (what I mean is does it come on its own, or do you kinda say to yourself "Ok, so this next song is gonna be jazzy and the next - hard rock")?

Its funny, I had the video opened up in one tab while surfing the net in another waiting for the ad that plays before the video to finish. Then I heard the music and said to myself, "Wait, why is another commercial playing? That's weird. Loving the music, but what kind of commercial is it? I bet it's for a new car or something, sorta sounds like one."

Then you started to sing.

Was literally like, " o_O, wait what?"

I go back to the tab which had the video, and sure enough the video actually started. Was pleasantly surprised to say the least!

While I tried to get into RDR, it ended up not being my cup of tea. I guess the old west setting just didn't really do it for me too much. My dad seemed to like it enough, though he likes a lot of John Wayne type movies (which are sort of in the same setting right? Never really watched one all the way through from the beginning before, sorry) so that might have helped.

But all in all, I liked this one a lot! Good Job!

50/50 - some of the time it's lyrics first (such as this song), other times a melody will pop into my head and I'll work the lyrics around it (Mind Of The Bat, and Gordon Freeman Saved My Life for example).

I try to make the sound of the music fit the game or at least fit the feeling I got playing the game! Hence why sometimes people don't always agree it suits the game in question.
