This is definitely my favorite song since your Saint's Row IV song 'Higher Tonight'. The lyrics are excellent and the music is well-composed and fitting.

I do have one small criticism though, if I may. It's something I noticed in this song and many others of yours, is that your voice stays largely at the same pitch. I felt that when the chorus ( the 'Keen to the scent, the hunt is my muse' part), came around, you could have maybe been a bit more passionate, a bit more powerful with your voice, especially for the second time.

Great piece overall though!

Wow,Gav, I think this is one the best songs I've heard from you. Awesome composition, great lyrics (that I guess are references to the games, but work perfectly without knowing anything,as is my case). For a moment there I thought you were drawing from your celtic ancestry into the mix, but then it went a bit more oriental at the end. I'm digging it.

And once again, your song plus video works much better as a teaser trailer than most of what the companies officially put out. They should be hiring you, damn it.

I'm afraid there's not much I can do about my vocal range, it's always been quite limited. That high G on the long 'White wolf' line is pretty much the top of my chest voice range, and moving into falsetto loses some of the power.

Thanks! I wish they would, lol.

I have to say, I bought this immediately, I really like it.

I was wondering if you gave any thought to somehow adding any bagpipes to the music? They seem to be an instrument the Witcher has used a decent amount, look at the trailers for the 3rd game. I've found they bring a lot of focus and power to the Witchers music.

Damn it... I'm not supposed to be advertising it without a get go (I'm working at CDP), but this is simply amazing, one of my favorite ones in your works Gav, posted on my wall, good job.

There are some bagpipes in there actually but I had to bury them deep as bagpipe plugins tend to sound horrible and fake. Hopefully someone will bring out a good one over the next year by the time the game is out for the next song and save me having to hire a real bagpipe player ;)

I obviously didn't notice it, will listen for them next time. Shame there's no decent plugins as of yet then, hope that changes. Great song though Gav, really enjoy it.

Brilliant song, marvelous lyrics. It's exactly what I would imagine hearing from the world of the Witcher! Kudos!

You know, I never really paid attention to your stuff on The Escapist... now I see what I have been missing!

This was absolutely sensational! After watching/listening, I just had to go and boot up The Witcher again (the first one, not the second [don't judge]). Oh, my goodness, so good! ^_^

Thank you for 3 minutes well spent!

You should also check out his song for the Witcher 2 called Silver and Steel if you liked this one :)

This was another absolutely fantastic song. I don't know how you manage it, but somehow you only release awe-inspiring music. There's something about the "keen to the scent" part that reminds me of Celtic Womans 2006 concert, A New Journey. I can't put my finger on what it is, but there's something that sounds similar in there. Makes sense, since they're Irish singers too.

Perseverance and Fistful of Concrete are also great, the sort of stuff that you crank the volume up on and nod your head to. Even on the train. At half past 6 in the morning. Seriously, that stuff's better than coffee.
Both your and Lorna's performance in Dream of Goodbye was amazing, and Ploughing a Troll is hilarious. "The Gods only know how the key fits the hole". Brilliant.

I'm going to stop now, because I'm running out of adjectives to describe how excellent your stuff is.

SO MUCH WIN!

Congratulations, Gav, you made me want the game so bad I can taste it. I've been replaying the sequel recently, so it really hit on the open nerves. Keep up the rocking. I always love your filk stuff the best.

Thanks :)

The Celtic Woman thing makes sense, 1. because I'm singing in my Irish accent in this song and b) the melody is based in Celtic/Slavic folk :)

Damn I wish I had money to get into The Witcher after this. Guess I should have picked up Witcher 2 during the Steam summer sale :S Oh well. Great music as always, Gav.

Your songs are the only reason I want to play RPG - cause I don't like this genre in general. But your best songs are usually RPG ones =)

Offtopic - I saw that you tried out Transistor, did you enjoy it?

Been a long time since I posted a comment on one of your songs, Gav, but this one is just too marvelous not to heap praise upon you. It hits just the right notes to become an instant classic; just enough medieval charm without being cheesy, just enough percussion to make it epic without feeling over-the-top, and the lyrics (not to mention your splendid vocal performance) are a perfect fit. What's more, I'm not much of a fantasy buff and have never been even remotely interested in the Witcher series, but this song makes me want to give the games a try.
Absolutely outstanding work, a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. Thank you for giving us this great piece of music to enjoy!

On a somewhat related note: I'm also not big on RPGs in general, but a re-listen of your first big hit finally made me try the Mass Effect series, and I'm ever so glad that I did. I'm about 2/3 into ME3 and loving every moment. Thanks again! :D

This was very good!
Know nothing about the game but the song was awesome.
Now excuse while I go press the repeat button and do other stuff at the same time!
