I'm afraid there's not much I can do about my vocal range, it's always been quite limited. That high G on the long 'White wolf' line is pretty much the top of my chest voice range, and moving into falsetto loses some of the power.Nachtmahr said:I do have one small criticism though, if I may. It's something I noticed in this song and many others of yours, is that your voice stays largely at the same pitch. I felt that when the chorus ( the 'Keen to the scent, the hunt is my muse' part), came around, you could have maybe been a bit more passionate, a bit more powerful with your voice, especially for the second time.
Great piece overall though!
Thanks! I wish they would, lol.shiajun said:And once again, your song plus video works much better as a teaser trailer than most of what the companies officially put out. They should be hiring you, damn it.
Nice! Glad you dig itYossarian1507 said:Damn it... I'm not supposed to be advertising it without a get go (I'm working at CDP), but this is simply amazing, one of my favorite ones in your works Gav, posted on my wall, good job.
There are some bagpipes in there actually but I had to bury them deep as bagpipe plugins tend to sound horrible and fake. Hopefully someone will bring out a good one over the next year by the time the game is out for the next song and save me having to hire a real bagpipe playerchozo_hybrid said:I have to say, I bought this immediately, I really like it.
I was wondering if you gave any thought to somehow adding any bagpipes to the music? They seem to be an instrument the Witcher has used a decent amount, look at the trailers for the 3rd game. I've found they bring a lot of focus and power to the Witchers music.
I obviously didn't notice it, will listen for them next time. Shame there's no decent plugins as of yet then, hope that changes. Great song though Gav, really enjoy it.MiracleOfSound said:Nice! You should also check out his song for the Witcher 2 called Silver and Steel if you liked this oneEirreann said:You know, I never really paid attention to your stuff on The Escapist... now I see what I have been missing!
This was absolutely sensational! After watching/listening, I just had to go and boot up The Witcher again (the first one, not the second [don't judge]). Oh, my goodness, so good! ^_^
Thank you for 3 minutes well spent!

There's something about the "keen to the scent" part that reminds me of Celtic Womans 2006 concert, A New Journey. I can't put my finger on what it is, but there's something that sounds similar in there. Makes sense, since they're Irish singers too.
Perseverance and Fistful of Concrete are also great, the sort of stuff that you crank the volume up on and nod your head to. Even on the train. At half past 6 in the morning. Seriously, that stuff's better than coffee.
Both your and Lorna's performance in Dream of Goodbye was amazing, and Ploughing a Troll is hilarious. "The Gods only know how the key fits the hole". Brilliant.
I'm going to stop now, because I'm running out of adjectives to describe how excellent your stuff is.
