Hi there,

I've been wanting to buy this game for months as it looks fantastic, but because of what I've heard that the game takes about 6 hours to complete and as it has DRM of some sorts I've held back.

I've been waiting for ME to go £10 new as that's the maximum I think a game with DRM is worth, but seeing it at £15 I'm wondering 'should I get it now?'

Problem is, is it really a 6 hour experience or can you get more fun out of it?

I understand there's a time trial and speedrun option, but do they add anything special to the experience? Is it just the same levels again but being timed, or are there changes that give the game many more hours of fun?

I don't have that much money at the moment so if I'm going to buy a game, I want it to last longer than 2 days. Supposing I did enjoy ME that much, would it fullfil my expectations?

Thanks guys.

I think you should wait for ME 2 next year. It has a level designer which will extend the life even if the game is short.

Well, I really liked ME, albeit it IS a bit short.
There are some speedruns and secret suitcases and such to give the game some replayability, but to be honest, after the 6 hours or so, you've pretty much seen what the game has to offer.

Hmmm, maybe it's a no then. Shame as it does look fun. As for waiting for ME2, am I right in saying we're not certain whether it'll be out next year? I've heard only 'a small team' is working on it, meaning it could take a very long time.

Buy it, its only a tenner, and you can't go wrong with ME I reckon. You can replay the story at least twice, trying out different rountes and what not.

It's decent enough. Very unique.

It's far too linear for my liking, but then the single solution puzzles sometimes kept me guessing for ages, which certainly helps extend the gameplay a fair bit (is that good or bad? I dunno...).
Combat is fun, but there are only a limited number of scenarios you ever get to see.

The story is mediocre, and seems a little random to me in the way that Faith simply accepts the death of certain people she knows later in the plot, and also how she goes about finding out things at times.

That said, never miss an opportunity. It's certainly an entertaining game, and very pretty.

I'd say buy it.

ME is typically the acronym for Mass Effect, so this thread is getting confusing.
But no one mentioned Mass Effect until you did...

Is there an alternative acronym for Mirror's Edge?

Well, no, it's £15 at the moment. If it were £10 I'd get it. £5 doesn't sound like much of a difference, but really if a game is as short as people are saying... anyway, no-one has mentioned whether the extra modes add any more playtime so I'm guessing they don't. It's a shame to here there aren't many action scenarios either.

Actually, I recently started trying out the time trials, and there fun. Just trying to find that extra route to shave that crucial second of your time. Its so great to be able to get that 3 star rating.

I havent got the DLC, so i cant talk about that, but you do get an option to speed run the campain. THAT is a mix of "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" and "YES!"

NOt that I know of, i was just getting confused reading some of the posts, because I see ME as Mass effect so often, it's no problem.

Buy it, it's not expensive and a decent game. I spent a couple of hours on the courses aside from the campaign trying to beat my times, so I bet you can get 10 hours out of it at least. Probably more.

I wasn't a big fan of Mirror's Edge, it focused a bit too much on combat and not enough on just running. That's why I loved the demo, and why the actual game was a big let down to me.

TBH 10 hours doesn't sound like enough to warrent £15. I think I'm going to wait a little longer after all.

Shame as this game seems to show so much potential. It seems like it was begging for an online multiplayer mode.

Why would it take longer with a smaller team? Logically it should take less time since it's easier to manage the project.

By that logic every game should be made with a crew of one.

That's not logic, that's taking a perfectly reasonable supposition to its retarded extreme.

Another perfectly reasonable supposition is that the more people there are to do a divisible job, the faster it gets done.

I say get it. For that price, I'd say it's worth it. It's short, but the speedruns can keep you occupied for a while if you're into the no-mistakes, speed-run approach to games.
While it had its shortcomings as a game, I loved ME.

What the? On Nutcase's post it has my comment faded out. Was I on probation or something?

Anyway, should only take another month or two for it to hit £10. Personally I don't want to spend £15 on something that takes 10 hours max when there are games for £5 that can give me more hours.
