Am I the only one who thought the ending wasn't too bad? I mean, they give you the cliffhanger about two missions before the ending, and the actual ending manages to wrap most things up but leaves a decent amount open. It's nowhere near as bad as Halo 2.

I think the writer would have to have an arrow in his/her head to think up a cliff hanger that terrible.

I didn't understand it. If they runners can use radio communication, why do they have an underground message system? If Faith associates with Kate and Faith kills someone, at what point is Kate and accomplice after the fact? Why does Kate even talk to Faith? Does she not now the Faith has killed cops? Why does Celeste give a dirty look as soon as you see her? Why does Faith no notice. How can Mercury see what Faith is doing? If there are any security cameras up there, doesn't that defeat the idea of secret couriers anyway? Wouldn't installing security cameras on roofs be an easier idea than
training ninja cops?

I didn't find of gameplay issues Yatzee mentioned other than the jump is the same problem as wallrun issue. I still think it's a pretty goo game because it is so immersive that my friend and I would hold our breath when Faith jumps of a building and lands on a mat.

My take on Mirror's Edge is pretty nice. It was innovative and amazing. Only problem is, its an FPS platforming game. First person view + Platforming doesn't work always. It would've been more flexible if it had the option to change to Third person whenever you have to look at the opposite direction to leap.

Don't understand what i'm talking about? Yahtzee has about the same opinion as I in this one.

What this guy said.

The story was absolutely abysmal and lacked anything even remotely resembling closure.

I understood it. What little there was to understand.

As cliche as it sounds, I agree with Yahtzee's take on the story. I mean - who the hell are you delivering messages for? It's not like you ever meet them. In fact, this story has an incredible similarity to Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. Both involved a large, wealthy party improving the city, and both involve you, the main character, doing absolutely everything you possibly can to stop them.

At least in Getting Up they actually did something to you to actually make you want to hassle them.
I don't remember too much delivering. The plot started up and then it was all running and jumping. The whole thing revolved around the mayor's re-election campaign. Bit extreme, but there was almost no crime, so he's probably just bored.

To deliver your porn.

I've only played the demo, so I probably wouldn't know, but... You sure they weren't just S.W.A.T.?
I'm sure. If you play the game, you'll find out what I mean.

That would make more sense than anything else in the game.

They were filthy private security. It's OK to kill rent-a-cops. I Iike to imagine the normal cops didn't die when I shot them, as they only have girly guns (for me to steal).

The story wasn't hard to understand, it was just crap.

The bad guys were baddies because... they were baddies.

Faith is a Runner... which is bad. Apparently.

Nothing gets resolved. Ever.

The "plot twist" was so obvious it hurt.

It's just crap.

On the porn thing, if your bored/lost enough to read the monitor in the PK office, you'll see an ex-employee's sarcastic email to his friend regarding whatever poor sap had to monitor what porn sites he looked at when he was on the job.

I enjoyed ME, i thought the gameplay was good and the controls were integrated well. I would've liked it to be about twice the length though, and story was very weak and underdeveloped. But just in my opinion in think ME is actually a good game, not great, but good.

It's not that the story was complicated, it's that it was just ... bad. Lazy. Boring. Had all the depth of a muddy puddle.

Runners are good because they said so. The corporation is bad because they said so. I dunno, but the city seemed clean and fairly well maintained. It really didn't seem that bad, and without expanding on why the runners exist you just get the impression that they're crooks fighting cops because because because.

That being said, the gameplay was still pretty fun. And the DLC is a step in the right direction. Nuts to story elements, let's just give them a play ground to run around in. Good!

Am I the only one here who thinks the ending song, 'Still Alive', was so beautiful and well-done that it excuses the gaping plot holes in ME's story? :p

Remember the paraphrased MTS3K mantra: 'It's just a game, I should really just relax.' Not every game can be a Half-Life or a Silent Hill. Left 4 Dead had a worse story than ME, but no one minded.

Adding to the list of 'the story made sense' it was just minimal and had holes. As far as I could tell the 'city' eliminated crime by using security cameras.

So, a got into playing Mirrors Edge again and I can't help but remember the common criticism of the game. The story.

So my question to you all is..

Am I the only one who completely understood the story the whole way through?
The problem with Mirrors edge`s story was not that it was complicated, the problem was that it was shit

Was there even a story?

Seriously, the story wasn't even thought out. I liked games which were created gameplay-wise first and story later, cause it follows on to a more fun game to play.

BUT, Mirror's Edge was not fun for me. Maybe fun for others. As for story....they didn't even try.
